Inuyasha v48 ch477 *DELAYED?*

Filed under: Chapters,Random — Starks at 3:47 pm on Tuesday, October 10, 2006

Short Story:

Due to circumstances beyond the control of Freelance-Manga, MakiMaki Scanlations, and Advanced InuYasha. All three groups will have a slight delay in our releases of this week's scanlation. We don't have a raw for this week.

Stay tuned for new developments. Read on for more details on the entire situation…

Long Story:

There might not be a scanlation this week.

This week's disaster arises from the fact that the Inuyasha manga is about 10 years old and hardly anybody bothers to consistently do raw scans on a weekly basis anymore.

Considering the delicate nature of the Inuyasha manga scene, there is a simple equation for a timely scanlation.

1. Accessible Japanese raw.
2. Japanese translation from said raw.
3. Editing to put the translation in the speech bubbles.
4. Distro to spread the release.

Component 2 depends on Component 1, and Component 1 is not available. All three groups rely on a specific person for Component 1 and all three groups rely on Patches for Component 2.

Short of using a potential translation by Kuro or Chris Rijk without their permission, there's not much that can be done. I don't want to piss off either unless I have to. We'd still need a raw though.

The Chinese Inuyasha scanlators hate when we re-use their scanlations as emergency raws. Ever since a certain incident involving a user-colored cover page, Freelance-Manga and MakiMaki Scanlations have both vowed not to use Chinese sources for our scanlations (Advanced InuYasha has never dealt with the Chinese scanlators so it is a non-issue for Urd-chan and her group). If were to break that vow, we'd get all kinds of flak from Kunlun and ACG. We're trying to return to good terms with them. However, breaking this vow wouldn't seem like a bad idea right now considering that since BQQ (our previous raw source) stopped doing Winny/Share raws for Inuyasha, our friend (who shall remain nameless) is probably the only known Japanese raw source on the internet (I'm a raw hunter and probably know better than anyone else on this matter.) As a last resort to get this scanlation out, I might be inclined to break the vow and sequester Chineses translation help from my friends in #Doremi (fansubbing group).

The short story is basically all that you need to know…  (Quote)

Starks is being overly dramatic (shocking, I know). Basically there's no good Raw yet this week, so… there's nothing to do.  (Quote)

I remember the ridiculous "colorization" incident.  It really should have been a non-incident, because neither Kunlun nor ACG own Inuyasha.  What a boatload of self-righteous crappage….   (Quote)

That's better. All you had to say was what they say on tv. "Due to circumstances beyond our control, Inuyasha has been postponed till further notice."  (Quote)

There's a good chance we won't have a release this week (though at the very least we'll do 477 later once the other raw appears, if anyone actually cares by then :p). Hopefully Kuro does a full scanlation this week. I bet MakiMaki will use the CHinese scans and come up with something too.  (Quote)

I figured this issue would pop up in the future.. considering alot of people have fallen out of the Inuyasha fandom since the death of the anime series.Good luck finding the raws, Starks. I'm sure you'll figure somethin' out.  (Quote)

Koopa, Ris and I have discussed the prospect of using the Chinese raws…

[22:36] <Ris> I've got better stuff to do this week than clean ACGLand raws, so I'll just wait for [censored] and Patches.  (Quote)

Bummer man…:\ The anime did end, but the anime was tripe compared to the manga. Wish we could get Shounen Sunday straight from Japan. If no one can find the raws, guess we'll all just have to wait till the raw graphic novels come out.  (Quote)

Eh, the manga's not much better than the anime, IMO. Besides the anime had that Sesshy and Rin filler episode, which is roughly better than 75% of the canon material.  (Quote)
