Not really, it's just an appeal to a different audience. Inuyasha is only the manga that I know of that has this insane clash of distribution styles. It's not normal for a manga  to be scanlated in the manners we use, especially Kuro and Urd-chan. Why appeal and make your scanlation available only to a small, sheltered fanbase when there is an entire Internet out there. This is why I employ traditional distribution methods in addition to online viewing. BitTorrent and direct download allow people to archive releases with ease.

Yeah yeah yeah… We know… But what good is a scanlation if you can't readily or easily archive it? I can't see why Urd-chan insists on relying on non-standard methods of scanlation and distribution.

Beyond ease of use, the primary reason why all 3 groups offer online chapter readings is because we are used to it. We're all following Kuro's example to an extent and the concept of downloading a scanlation may seem foreign.

To keep a long story short, the lack of archive-ready scans was a major factor in my decision to create this group.
