Inuyasha v49 ch487 "Ikikata" (Way to Live)

Oh, where to begin..  First and foremost. HAPPY HOLIDAYS! Now that that is out of the way, time to get down to business. Beginning with this chapter, I will be taking full responsibility for the visual quality of my group's releases as I assume the position as editor. Releases will be fast, furious, and high quality from now on.

Also, I have finally finished implementing the new gallery view system (YAY!). It's still considered to be in a beta phase but you are all welcome to test it out and give me feedback. It's powered by the uber-awesome Gallery2 suite (colors and themes are subject to change). Aside from a few bugs with Internet Explorer (use Firefox and make my life easier), it works like a charm and is insanely better than Photobucket's display. The images are still hosted by Photobucket but the Gallery2 suite helps me organize the images and display them at FULL RESOLUTION (a.k.a. "NO HORRIBLE RESIZING" and the very thing you guys been asking for over the past few weeks). Over the next day or two (based on feedback reports), I will be integrating the new gallery with the site for seamless navigation. Finally, older chapters will be added to the new gallery as soon as possible.

First Edit: Over the next few weeks, I may be scanlating (with Harley from Rumic World as my translator) the 5 finale chapters for One-Pound Gospel (another of Rumiko Takahashi's works). Rest assured, it will not interfere with Inuyasha.

Second Edit: I forgot to remind everyone of something REALLY important. This week's Shounen Sunday issue was another double-issue. Because of this, there will be no new chapter next week.

Third Edit: The new gallery view is creating an incredible strain (far greater than I was anticipating) on my server and I will be moving it to another (more powerful) server in a few days. If that doesn't work, I may have to scale down to a simpler design… At any rate, the beta test was a resounding success.

No new chapter this week but…

Because last week's chapter was part of a Shounen Sunday double-issue, there will be no new chapter this week. However, seeing as how my winter break from college starts this week, I feel a need to do something special for you guys to help dispel the depression of not having a new release. It won't necessarily be Inuyasha related but I think you'll appreciate it. It'll more than likely come later this week.

Also, quick question… Inuyasha, InuYasha, or something else? Not that I plan to change the way I scanlate his name or anything, but I'm just curious as to how you think his name should be romanized.

Additionally, Adult Swim is running an Inuyasha movie marathon this Saturday which will feature movies 2, 3, and 4 (premiere).

I understand that there has been an overwhelmingly critical response to the drastic change in release speed and scanlation quality over the past few weeks. Azula and I apologize for this. We have both been under intense pressure by numerous real life issues and classes. In response to the negative outcry and at Azula's request, I will be assuming the job of editor starting with chapter 487 on December 26th. I find that the start of the New Year is the appropriate time that I began taking more responsibility for my group. Despite this, I will be keeping all of my options open, I will not refuse serious requests from anyone willing to take up the job of editor or backup editor. Additionally, there will a few improvements coming to the website within the next few weeks. They may include but are certainly not limited to:

  • Improved chapter gallery for online reading.

  • A more organized archive of links for volumes 1-46.

  • A mailing list to notify you of new releases.

Again, I apologize to all of my followers who feel somewhat betrayed by our recent releases. Things will improve. Keep the faith.

I’m just going release the omake pages at a later date. No point in delaying the whole chapter. As soon as Azula or myself receive a translation, one of us will scanlate and release those. Also, time for a little housekeeping.

I hear your complaints about the noticeable drop in overall quality over the past few weeks and I am acting to rectify the entire situation. It's a rough time of the year for us all so please keep the faith. Trust me, it concerns me as much as it concerns you.

Second Edit:  After seeing the translation for the omake, this may take a while to fit into the scans… I may not even do them. But we'll see.

  1. Next week's Shounen Sunday is a double issue, this means it'll be a normal length chapter but there will be no chapter the week afterward. Chapter 486 is next week and chapter 487 is going to be out on or around December 27th.
  2. Updating the archive is taking longer than I anticipated, I've just been swamped by school work and upcoming finals.
  3. I know, I know, the gallery view still sucks. I'm working on a permanent solution that will supplement the Photobucket. This may involve me splurging on paid hosting to support the files and bandwidth or learning some quick PHP. Either solution may not be implemented until January, but I will try my best over the next few weeks.

Domain name troubles…

My domain registrar, Joker.com (worst service I've ever used), is being anal again and not allowing to me transfer my domain name to GoDaddy.com.

Currently, the domains http://freelance-manga.com and http://www.freelance-manga.com no longer redirect to this site and I am rather pissed about it. If you wish to continue accessing this site until I fix everything, use http://freelance.freehostia.com or http://freelance-manga.go.cc.

God, every week it's either something new or something broken with this site… So frustrating. If it isn't Freehostia, it's Joker that's causing me problems. It's times like these that I wish I went with paid hosting…

Edit: I haven't had time this week to implement a fix for the Photobucket gallery woes. I've been flogged by schoolwork and upcoming finals (it's only gonna get worse for me)… Hopefully I'll have it ready for next week.

Second Edit:  For this week's chapter, there are 2 omake (bonus) pages. From what I can judge, Rumiko is using these pages to perhaps address fan criticism or concern about recent arcs. Unlike my overeager competition, I do plan to release a scanlation that includes a REAL TRANSLATION of these pages (provided that I receive a translation from Patches) sometime tomorrow.

Third Edit: Yeah, I'm just release the omake pages at a later date. As soon as Azula or myself receive a translation, we're gonna scanlate and release those.
