Inuyasha Chapter 485
Inuyasha v49 ch485 "Yakurou Dokusen"
I’m just going release the omake pages at a later date. No point in delaying the whole chapter. As soon as Azula or myself receive a translation, one of us will scanlate and release those. Also, time for a little housekeeping.
I hear your complaints about the noticeable drop in overall quality over the past few weeks and I am acting to rectify the entire situation. It's a rough time of the year for us all so please keep the faith. Trust me, it concerns me as much as it concerns you.
Second Edit: After seeing the translation for the omake, this may take a while to fit into the scans… I may not even do them. But we'll see.
- Next week's Shounen Sunday is a double issue, this means it'll be a normal length chapter but there will be no chapter the week afterward. Chapter 486 is next week and chapter 487 is going to be out on or around December 27th.
- Updating the archive is taking longer than I anticipated, I've just been swamped by school work and upcoming finals.
- I know, I know, the gallery view still sucks. I'm working on a permanent solution that will supplement the Photobucket. This may involve me splurging on paid hosting to support the files and bandwidth or learning some quick PHP. Either solution may not be implemented until January, but I will try my best over the next few weeks.
Third Edit: If you want to see the script for that Patches made for the extra pages, click on "read on" button.

Title: "Manga College Special Lecture
Spirit of the Pros
Part 12
Today's Lecturuer: Takahashi Rumiko-sensei
Secrets of Creating Character and Story"
Piyoko: "Ohhhh… somehow, all my characters end up turning out the
same, piyo."
bg: "I'm the main character!"
bg: "I'm the rival!"
bg: "I'm the love interest!"
Takahashi: "Are you assigning precise and separate roles to your
characters?"
Piyoko: "It's Takahashi Rumiko-sensei from 'Inuyasha'!"
Takahashi: "You know how they say 'Comedians on TV wear their
characters'? Manga characters are fundamentally the same."
Takahashi: "The fool and the straight man is an example of role-
sharing, where a good character must be able to utilize his
resources."
bg: "I'm under the weather."
bg: "Then get under a roof!"
Piyoko: "Role-sharing, piyo?"
Takahashi: "For instance, putting playful characters with stoic
characters. Doing this, not only does it bring out their charm from
their interactions and cooperation, but they help move the story
along well, too."
Jaken: "Sesshoumaru-sama!"
Piyoko: "I see, piyo!"

Takahashi: "In the end, it's the characters who decide what kind of
story you're going to be writing."
Piyoko: "Wh… what do you mean by that, piyo?"
Takahashi: "When I'm writing, first I think about the details and
the plot, then think about what kind of characters would make this
story interesting."
bubble: "Story"
Takahashi: "Then I concentrate on 'What would this character say in
this situation?' or 'How would he act?'
Inuyasha: "Dammit, it's not morning yet?!"
Inuyasha: "If it weren't for this human body, this pathetic youkai
would…"
Takahashi: "Basically, an author doesn't say 'I want it to go this
way', the characters develop the story."
Takahashi: "Waait!!"
Inuyasha: "No way!"
Piyoko: "I… I see, piyo…"
Takahashi: "Even though I'm serialized weekly, I'm constantly
changing my mind on new characters' names until they show up. Even
if I'm not drawing them, a character who isn't changing is no fun."
Piyoko: "All right, I'm gonna write a story where the characters
lead!"
Takahashi: 'There's shouki coming out of his head…'
Takahashi: "Of course, after you create the characters, it's
important not to unnerve the readers too much."
