Inuyasha Chapter 487 (PLUS MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENTS)

Inuyasha v49 ch487 "Ikikata" (Way to Live)

Oh, where to begin..  First and foremost. HAPPY HOLIDAYS! Now that that is out of the way, time to get down to business. Beginning with this chapter, I will be taking full responsibility for the visual quality of my group's releases as I assume the position as editor. Releases will be fast, furious, and high quality from now on.

Also, I have finally finished implementing the new gallery view system (YAY!). It's still considered to be in a beta phase but you are all welcome to test it out and give me feedback. It's powered by the uber-awesome Gallery2 suite (colors and themes are subject to change). Aside from a few bugs with Internet Explorer (use Firefox and make my life easier), it works like a charm and is insanely better than Photobucket's display. The images are still hosted by Photobucket but the Gallery2 suite helps me organize the images and display them at FULL RESOLUTION (a.k.a. "NO HORRIBLE RESIZING" and the very thing you guys been asking for over the past few weeks). Over the next day or two (based on feedback reports), I will be integrating the new gallery with the site for seamless navigation. Finally, older chapters will be added to the new gallery as soon as possible.

First Edit: Over the next few weeks, I may be scanlating (with Harley from Rumic World as my translator) the 5 finale chapters for One-Pound Gospel (another of Rumiko Takahashi's works). Rest assured, it will not interfere with Inuyasha.

Second Edit: I forgot to remind everyone of something REALLY important. This week's Shounen Sunday issue was another double-issue. Because of this, there will be no new chapter next week.

Third Edit: The new gallery view is creating an incredible strain (far greater than I was anticipating) on my server and I will be moving it to another (more powerful) server in a few days. If that doesn't work, I may have to scale down to a simpler design… At any rate, the beta test was a resounding success.

Great work Starks. Not only the typesetting is flawless, but you also manage to beat maki^2 at speed.

I have only 2 complaints:

1. Don't include Thumbs.db files in the zip. WindowsXP would recreate them anyway and comics readers would never use them.

2. Joke-title page. I know maki^2 do the same thing and it is quite annoying (distracting) when you read chapters in a batch (one after another). I would have complained to maki^2 too, but I've never been able to directly access their website (because of their 3'd grade ISP).
I could live with this if other readers prefer it at the start.

If others complain, the joke page will be moved to a sub-album. I can't promise that I won't do joke pages in the future, but I'll be sure to put them in an EXTRAS folder that is separate from the actual scanlation. The main reason why I did it this week was because maki^2's pre-release 4-koma wasn't funny at all… Take a look: Lame 4-koma

Also, sorry about the thumbs.db, forgot to take it out this week. My bad.

I really like the new layout.. it's much easier to read, and I like how easy it is to go to the next page.

Also, I want to thank you for doing these scanalations.. I went almost 2 months without any idea what was going on. I'm sure it's a lot of hard work and I appreciate it! :)

Starks,
it's not surprise that the 4-koma is not funny, the images are just cut and paste from page 4 of their previous scanlation and the text is not modified in any way. I guess they are still looking for something funny to write there.

I really love the new gallery and I use this occasion to say express my thanks to those who contribute in this website to publish Inuyasha's scanlations every week. This is such a great job! And the new gallery is much more practical than the previous one! So keep on doing the great work!

All this chapter really did was set you up for the next chapter, but i think i'll live to read the next one. Rumiko really seems to like playing with the idea of miroku dying, but if he did it just wouldn't be right!!

Love the new beta gallery view thing that you've done. Worked wonderfully. Also, loved the joke page. Regardless of what others may think, I "loled".

The only thing good I can say about this "taking us away from the real story" arc is yay for new Miroku/Sango shippiness. I adore them. Still, I'm wondering how much longer Takahashi can drag this out since we're so close to the end.

And then I remember all of her other series.

Ah, well. I still love her anyway.

Starks, you're giving 100%, and I appreciate it. You're awesome.

Hirakikotsu looked pissed at the end of this chapter, so it'll be interesting to see how they reconcile with Sango. There's a whole lot of Sango/Miroku loving going on, so this arc isn't a total waste. And now Miroku is pretty lethal; if it weren't for his injuries, he alone could kill Naraku regardless of the amount of shouki he spewed at the monk. We know he's survived massive amounts before. Still, this isn't the same Miroku we're dealing with; lesser-demons' poison knocks him out pretty quickly, so Miroku won't be the Inu's gang ace-in-the-hole against Naraku at all. I suspect he'll make Naraku panic, but then pass out very near death. The Inu Gang will make some headway to finish Naraku off, which will get rid of Miroku's wind tunnel curse — and the shouki connected with it, saving Miroku.

I wonder if Sango will finally be of some use against Naraku with her new boomerang? She's probably the least useful of the bunch against him. We're not in Season 1 anymore, Sango.

How is it not part of the "real story" if it's about two of the main characters? I think this arc is awsome and really shows how much Miroku and Sango love eachother.

Shouki: It's not her fault she doesn't have any powers..

@MUGGLE:

I think by "real story" she means the main plot to defeat Naraku, and not really character development stuff. I mean, this Miroku/Sango arc is more a side story, if you know what I mean. xD

Yes, that's what I meant by "real story" since the main arc is about getting revenge against Naraku for everyone. I don't consider Inuyasha/Kagome lovin'/hatin' to be the main story (although it tends to take up a lot of friggin' time). Sorry for not being clearer on that. XD

Also, I love Miroku and Sango, too, so I'm loving this arc.

Try not to think I'm a dunce because of my username, heh heh. I tend to use it because 1.) of the Japanese game and another manga, and 2.) it's my daughter's name. ;)

Kagome Kagome Kago no naka no Tori wa
Itsu Itsu deyaru? Yoake no ban ni

Ushiro no shoumen dare ?

Translation:
Kagome, Kagome, the bird in the cage,
when will you come out?
In the evening of the dawn,
the crane and turtle slipped.
Who stands right behind you now?

Sometimes the last few lines are translated literally as the following:

At dawns and evenings.
Who is in front of the back,
where a crane and turtle slipped and fell?

Perhaps. Then again, there's also the condiments company in Japan called Kagome (well, they're worldwide, not just Japan anymore).

However, I'm pretty sure she got it from the "ring around the rosy" game, and it's not something of the "ZOMG NAMED AFTER KETCHUP!!1!" variety.

I love that poem, too, for the strangeness of it. Dammit, I could've sworn that I read somewhere that it's a poem about someone who miscarried a baby. Strangeness, indeed.

I don't know why but this second week without new chapter looked unusually longer. I hope there will be new chapter soon enough:)

Starts, rereading by first post I see that it may leave the impression that I didn't liked the joke page. There were even some comments in that sense.
Well, just want to tell that I liked it and I'd be happy if there are more joke pages in future. (the EXTRA folder is more than enough). Just keep jokes funny and never put vulgar one (like you-know-who;)

Hey! I couldn't get to the site earlier, I was wondering if the problem was with your webhost or if it was actually on my side, I think the error I got was "connection timeout". I could access any other website, just not this one, it was a couple of hours ago, just so you know. BTW, I love the new format, you are doing a good job!

Azula: I guess I can see that, but if she's going to be giving each character a good ending, isn't it better to tie up their individual plots rather then Naraku first? Sometimes it just like people think he should come before the actual people he's hurt.

I do. XD
I don't think they're lovin'/hatin' anymore, just lovin'. That sounds more like Ranma and Akane. lol

Nah, it's a good one if it has good reasons behind it. Hah, that's awsome that she's named Kagome!
