OH SHIT!

Filed under: Random — Starks at 11:49 am on Friday, January 12, 2007

Wow… This site just used up 2 month’s worth of bandwidth in less than a few hours… This new gallery is gonna cause ENORMOUS problems for me unless I figure out how to get this under control. This beta has taught me a lot and I’m now learning that I may have to cut down the final gallery considerably to save bandwidth.

First Edit: The web hosting server switch went as planned with relatively few bumps.

Second Edit: I will upgrading this site to Wordpress 2.1 over the next few days. If anything looks funky, out of place, or simply doesn't work, be sure to let me know through comments or by e-mail. The site shouldn't look any different (provided that all goes well). The upgrade is mostly for me (as the webmaster) and to make it easier for me to maintain everything.

Ouch. Well, that obviously nixes the new gallery because bandwidth is too important. I'm not sure if you can even do anything…unless there was free hosting somewhere that could hold the beta, but I doubt that, and besides, there's already the Photobucket version.

I sympathize. My friends went through this same problem with their fanfiction site because of its popularity. Damn bill for bandwidth was eating away their money. :(

I'm a little surprised at folks' expectations. The new gallery may be nicer, but they're the same scans & translations. It's just not worth it to put so much strain on the site and Starks.

The goal of this site is to make it incredibly easy to the point that even a complete moron (no offense to anyone) can read the scanlations in any form that they desire.

Ehh. @__@ I still think you should move to Dreamhost–they give unlimited bandwidth. xDD But then again, there's the cost.

Good luck with the gallery, though! I hope it stays.

if you accept paypal donations, maybe that could cover the cost for like $25 a month host with unlimited band or something?

just an idea!

Believe me, a Dreamhost account would be freakin' amazing but it does cost money and I'm not ready to make that kind of a commitment. Besides, I suck at setting up stuff like Paypal. I don't want to resort to donations and I don't think I will need to.

You guys are also right, the gallery is a bonus.

Additionally, I will be migrating this site over to 110mb.com within the next week or so… They're free as well but offer a lot more than what I am getting with Freehostia.

Great to know that you're getting that server switch done so quickly. I would have put it off for ages and ages, and no one would know why…

Double release??? What does that meeeeeaaan??? Sounds amazingly awesome!

Great chapter. And it looks as though Sesshoumaru might have to deal with Inuyasha as well, from the looks of things. Perhaps they'll end up working together after all…

Or not.

And more jokes about Sesshoumaru being a lolicon? I thought we went over this theory a long time ago, lol.

Starks,
Could you move back here comment 999, it belongs to this post. Your reply is also here.

I hope you have sorted out the invisible posts problem ;)

Sure, I can do that… Also, to the best of my knowledge, no posts are missing. Is that not the case?

I don't see any recent post that are missing.

There is only one small thing that I have noticed about posts.
When you look at the URL you see http://freelance.110mb.com/?p=100 . The URL of next post ends with ?p=102 . It's far more strange that the post after that one have ?p=104 but there is no 103 (or 101).

There is something odd ;)

Anyway, this is not really problem, as long as it works.

Missing post numbers could be simply caused by creating and then deleting the post.
