Well, what a surprise was One Pound Gospel. I didn't see that coming. Thanks…but, I've found out a little error: the Dom Perignon price. It's not 400.000 yen but 40.000, or the change should have been 3300+$. Freaking cracy for a champagne bottle :)
(in my country the price is 340 eur per bottle)

Loved this chapter! What is Shishinki's link with Inutaisho? Why does he want to show Sesshomaru the secret to the Tenseiga? What is the Tenseiga's other form?

You know I was looking at the staff/weapon that Shisinki's holding. And I remebered a arc in Inuyasha were a similar staff was made by combining two brother swords creating an all powerful weapon. Could it be possible that Tetsaiga and Tenseiga can do the same thing? And that's why Shishinki said that tenseiga was in another form? If this is true, Inu and Sessho are going to definately need to learn how to work together.

Also, with the mask thing at the end, that took me totally by suprise and was kinda funny! :D
I thought the mask hid really ugly scars, like a Phantom of the Opera thing. But instead, he really is missing half his head!
But what was really funny was the way Sesshomaru responded. The look on his face was like, "And I should care…why, again?" lol

I love my Sessho! :)

Damn….so it was trap, though a little.-_- then, my guess will not be correct. But nice to see the enemy of the father^^ After Ryucotsusay(I don't know how to spell in English. In the book 19~20, the youkai who made Inu's father die because of his poison.), New enemy, wow. I really wonder the fact of tensaiga and the enemy.
However, also I think it is a little fast going in story. Maybe because Kikyou(and Kagura, Kanna etc) is dead, hm?

And, yeah~ It seems that Inu's and Sesshy's will meet together!!^^I'm really expecting that!! Travel together~~kya~~(hey calm down, please..kuku…)
Maybe the next, next chapter ends with Inuyasha's "Sesshoumarau?!" or "Kaze no Kizu!!"?

These days after chapter 467, we can see the alarmed faces of Sesshy a lot, as well with other feelings-like sad etc. ^o^ I love them.♡

Plus, Sango's Hiraikotsu is not like before…then later story(or scene) about that will come out I guess.

Thanks for the chapter, and how nice! Expecting the next!!^^

I don't think it'll end at 500 even, either. However, I hope it dosn't go too much over that. It looks like Inuyasha and sesshomaru will meet within the next couple of chapters. i'm wondering if there truly is a way to combine their sowrds. And perhaphs in that lies the true secret of both Tenseiga and Tessaiga, as well as a way of defeating Shishinki. But we'll have to wait till next week to see^^

I love this story, but in all honesty, at some level, I would really like it to end already. It's been going for 10 years, almost five hundred chapters, and the plot has been dragged out for so very long that I'm afraid the thing's just going to collapse under the tension. If that happens, then we either won't have a very good ending, or no ending at all.

Of course, I'm just a novice writer, so I could very well be wrong. All I know is that I could never make a story go for so very long.

That's my theory as well. Both Tenseiga and Tetsaiga have some sort of final form that neither has accomplished thus far. it would be cool if the swords could combine. However, who would use the finished product? You can't really share one weapon with two brothers. Unless say the two swords combine to become one, and then split. Giving both brothers new weapons that have the abilities of both Tenseiga and Tetsaiga!

Now that would be awesome! :D

I loved this chapter!^^ Though I was a little suprised at the title and thought this would be fast if Sessh could find a way in one chapter to complete Tenseiga's Meidou – but seems I was right about what to expect from Takahashi-sensei^^"
Anyway, the way I see it – the group is coming together for the final scene… what do you think? Though I still hope the manga won't end that soon :/
Thanks for scanlating! ;)

Heh, Stephen King sometimes lets stories go on forever, too. The same could be said of Clive Barker. Sometimes you feel like you just have so much to tell.

Haven't read OPG yet (but hooray for that…although a finale??), but as for this…yeah…my first thought was, "Boy, there isn't that much difference between the brothers' attitudes." Sesshy has just as much damn tendency to slice first and ask questions later. :P If they could just get past the whole "damn half-breed" crap, then they'd probably get along pretty well (as well as brothers can normally, anyway). I also had the feeling when the little kid/Shishinki showed up before that he wasn't another Naraku-spawn. Otherwise, I'm sure that Sesshoumaru would have mentioned something. So yay! for new villains that fought Inutaishou in the past, and double yay!! for the thought that Tenseiga and Tetsusaiga will have to merge for the big finale.

As for Shishinki…er, yeah, Phantom of the Opera was the first thing that came to my mind, and as for Sesshoumaru's expression in the last panel, I think it was mirroring my own: WTF?? You just took off half of your face?! Gross, but cool.

And that joke page! Still LMAO, definitely! :D

one for 'death'
the other for 'kami' (kami often translates as 'god', though it's a different entity from what european cultures calls 'god')
The third one, well, I haven't figured it out yet…
I just mentioned this if someone might have been interested in it…

Hmm… it seems like Sesshoumaru's getting his own version of Ryukotsusei: An uber-demon who messed with Daddy and now holds the secret to figuring out how the puppy's sword works.

I just hope Inuyasha doesn't barge in and try to steal the limelight. He will, of course, because that's what he does, but I still hope he doesn't.

On a side note, it seems like the last four or five story arcs had a fair share of fanservice, which leads me to hope RT's using this arc to finally give us a flashback featuring Inu-papa. Although given her history, I don't have my hopes up too high on that count.

1018, By all accounts, Shishinki should not be able to move the entire right-hand side of his body. He also shouldn't be able to engage in logical thought or speak coherently. It seems as though the right hemisphere of his brain has done some MAJOR compensation for the loss of the left. Rather impossible if you ask me, lol.

1015- Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha ARE a lot alike, aren't they? Though I have been thinking lately and I have come to the theory that Sesshoumaru never really hated Inuyasha for being a hanyou in the first place (that was just his lame excuse), and he doesn't hate him so much anymore. You see, I'm in Inuyasha's boat regarding the fact that I also have a half-sibling, two of them in fact, and they also used to treat me as though I'm the scum of the earth, but it wasn't because I was a different species/race. Their reason was that I had stolen their precious father away from them. Sorta fits, what with Sesshoumaru's EXTREME respect with his father and all. I'm guessing that with the acquisition of Rin, Sesshoumaru matured quite a bit, and gained a little insight into what his father felt for himself, Inuyasha, PERHAPS Izayoi (I'm not really a fan of Sesshoumaru and Rin as a romantic couple, but there's always the possibility). He probably still WANTS to hate Inuyasha, due to that irrepressible pride of his, but can't quite accomplish the task.

Of course, I COULD be reading too much into it, heh.

1020- lol, I'll say it again, since something happened to my first post: that Sesshoumaru-is-a-pedophile joke is a little old. An antique, in fact, heehee. Surely there's more joke material out there than that, Starks?

Wow, that was a long rant….

Oh, there was the mean at that name? wow. At first, I thought it was similar to Goshinki(in Vol.16 He could read the minds, at last changed-to-youkai-Inuyasha killed him.). I don't know the second and third letter is same as Shishinki or not. Anyway, good information it was^^

Ehh…honestly, I'm a very big fan of Inuyasha, so I don't want to see that end quickly. But if that ends soon, I must understand and take it, I know. However, I also want to believe in the Takahashi Rumiko sang's comments(in the last page of chapter 485)…

Anyway, I'm very excited to this chapter, I'm looking forward to seeing the next!^^ I guess Sesshy could be hurt in this time?(but my guesses were usually not correct;;; so I'll wait and see.)

Okay, so, on the last page you can always see a comment what could happen in the next chapter, right? Well, it's there is Japanese, too, just on the right side of the page.
Japanese use 3 'alphabets': hiragana & katakana is for syllables and kanji (for Chinese) for concepts. See, most of the names in Inuyasha also appeares in kanji letters.
And finally I had time to investigate the last letter, too! So, if you're interested in Shishinki's name:
'shi' the first kanji 死 is for 'death' or 'die'
'shin' the second one 神 can mean 'gods' or 'mind' or 'soul'
And the last one, 'ki', is 鬼 is for 'ghost' or 'devil'.
Note that you can read each kanji differently in different text areas, but in this '死神鬼' they should be read 'Shishinki'.
So, with kanjis, every Japanese name has a meaning! ;)
Shishinki's name I think is somewhere on the line of devil-death-god or sg like this @.@

Kaze: try to use like you're having a chat on MSN; it's the same… ex. : + ) = :)

I don't think that Rumiko wanted a literal translation of his name. On the raws, there was furigana (a.k.a. yomigana or ruby) next to the kanji to aid in pronounciation. It's Shishinki.

(Quote)

ArvaelNo Gravatar

January 19, 2007 @ 12:43 pm

Yes, I noticed the furigana, as well. But kanjis do have meanings; she could've used other kanjis and still have the same pronounciation as 'Shishinki'. However, I think Takahashi tend to give names which has other meanings.
But it's not like this is some major problem. Everyone can see in the names anything they wanted. I just thought this might be interesting…

Here's a question: When Shishinki talks about Tenseiga having another 'form', does he mean that literally, like in the way Tessaiga transforms in different attacks? Or is he speaking metaphorically, just saying that Tenseiga didn't have the ability to create a meidou yet? I know about as much Japanese as I know ancient Sumerian, so I don't know if the original text might provide any clues or not. Although, granted, we'll find out what Shishinki means eventually, that's his whole purpose as a character after all.

Nevermind.

With the manga almost ending, it seems like this Shishinki will be Sessho's Ryukotsei. It's too bad… he has the potential to be a major villain. He is Inutaisho's enemy and he's got the power to open the path to the netherworld, which means he could bring back past enemies to make trouble for the good guys. That will be interesting to see.

I thought the same, but then immediately wondered how he managed not to get sucked in. We've seen the Midou act have some black-hole-like qualities, creating a vortex that very strongly sucks in objects. So how could Shishinki get hit with Midou and just have a tiny fraction of himself affected?

I'm guessing the Midou was actually normal-sized, and only the very sliver of the edge touched him. InuTaisho may have been teaching Shishinki a lesson, and decided to close the Midou and spare him at the last second just as Shishinki barely touched the hole.

Or maybe it's a small Midou after all, which would be sort of funny to see.

On a different note, I don't like how the Midou now looks like a giant sphere thrown around like a wrecking ball. I always like its subtlety. But now there doesn't really seem to be a point for it to be an opening to the underworld; any attack w/ that much velocity and power would kill an enemy in one hit.

Also, one part of this chapter confused me: It seemed like Jaken was accusing Shishinki of disguising himself as a little boy. But we clearly see the little boy flying around next to Shishinki right before the accusation. What was up with that? I'm guessing the little boy is a puppet, and maybe that's what Jaken meant.

(Quote)

Shouki

January 21, 2007 @ 11:08 am

Oh, another point: Is the Midou now 3D? It was always 2D before, unless I'm mistaken. That's why the whole sphere-like appearance threw me for a loop. In the past, it always looked like a 2D opening; now it looks like a giant 3D sphere.

(Quote)

Finally understand Jaken's comment. He was reacting to Shishinki looking young (as in young adult), while really being old enough to have battled InuTaisho.

1038- I always thought of the Meidou as a black hole because it DIDN'T suck things in, unlike Miroku's Kazaana. A common misconception concerning black holes is that the suck things in, however, a black hole's center of gravity is just extremely dense and powerful, and GRAVITY is not the same as SUCTION. To be caught in a black hole, you'd actually have to FALL into it.

I hope that didn't sound condescending, but that's how I understand it from my astronomy class a couple of years back.

With the Inuyasha saga slowly coming to a close I'm wondering if they'll be killing any other main or secondary characters off. (with the exception of Naraku and Byakuya, who are givens) I've been wondering how they're going to save Kohaku, since he's going to die without the shard. Also, what's Kagome going to do when this is all over? Will she stay in the feudal realm with Inuyasha and her friends? Or will the well send her home, erasing all her memories of the place and the half-demon that loved her, only for her to think that the whole thing was a dream; then one day she sees a boy who looks a lot like Inuyasha but is not him, and we all wonder if it all really happened or not? (this has happened in more than one storyline I can think of.)

Maybe Kagome will use the complete Jewel to wish Kohaku back to life?

I have a feeling Kagome will go back home, and Inu will secretly follow her back. Either way, the end will be sad. For all I gripe about the manga, it will be tough to see it go.

This is my first online post on something outside of genealogy!

I think Naraku will get Kohaku's shard and Kirara will bring Kohaku back to life after Naraku is purified along with the shikon jewel by Kagome. Kirara looks like a nekomata (they have the ability of necromancy). I could be wrong. As far as other characters go, I wouldn't be surprised if Sesshoumaru died while doing something unexpected such as saving Inuyasha (I know that one is a little far-fetched). Sango and Miroku will marry and Inuyasha will become a human for Kagome. Will he go with her to modern Tokyo or stay in his time is hard to say.

This is just me guessing. I'm sure some others here will disagree with me.

Welcome Daniel!

I never thought of a bigger purose for Kilala than just being transportation, Sango's fighting partner, or the cuteness factor animal of the series. But that would be intresting if she did. If Sesshomaru died, I'd be sad and forlorn for the rest of the series. He's the main reason I even checked out the show/manga, and without him I feel no point in continuing. :(

Of course Sango and Miroku will marry, but I sincerely don't think that Inuyasha will become full-human. The whole series has been this process for him to accept both sides of him and have them work together. Kagome has stated several times that she likes Inuyasha the way he is. I don't think she wants him fully human. As to which side of the well she's going to stay on, we'll just have to see.

Kirara's character has never really been expanded on further than her being Sango's companion (anime only: and a mythical beast who fought alongside Midoriko in a battle centuries ago). If there was anything more to Kirara than what we already know, Rumiko missed the opportunity to reveal it. It's now far too late for anything new with Kirara.

Is there a new chapter this week, or does it skip again this week?

I also doubt Inuyasha will turn fully human. Kikyo and Kagome have been compared frequently throughout the series, and I think one of the starkest comparisons is Kikyo's desire for Inu to be human, versus Kagome's complete acceptance of Inu just the way he is. That character difference b/n Kagome and Kikyo is pretty definitive, so I would be really surprised if Kagome suddenly did an about-face and urged Inu to turn human. Very surprised.

I wonder: If Kikyo makes a wish on the completed Shikon Jewel, how will she get home? She can only travel w/ the shards, so if Jewel disappears (for example, by reviving Kohaku), she'd be stuck in the Feudal Era. That assumes, though, that she won't use the wish to go home, and that she won't make a wish for the sake of something in the Feudal Era (like bringing Kohaku back to life) from the present.

Sorry, I meant if Kagome makes the wish, etc. — not Kikyo. :)

I, being extremely anti-Kagome, don't think Inuyasha should be with anyone at all, since Kikyou died.

Kagome does not belong in the feudal era, and she needs to consider her own family. She should go home and stay home.

A half-demon is who Inuyasha is, and he should stay that way. I don't think he'll even LIKE being a human. It doesn't fit his personality nearly as well.

I don't know how Rumiko will do it, but I really hope the ending will be Kagome sent back home never to return again and Inuyasha moving on with his life Happily.
