One year later…

Filed under: Chapters — Starks at 8:39 pm on Sunday, May 13, 2007

Jeez, it's been one hell of a year. Earlier this week, Freelance-Manga had its first birthday.

Who would've thought that 52 weeks after Kuro essentially passed the torch this group, MakiMaki Scanlations, and Advanced Inuyasha we'd still be together on this journey. In case you weren't around or have been living under a rock, May 2006 through May 2007 has been an action and shocker packed year. Almost right off the bat, Kikyou was epically killed off and we were treated with the most unlikely character in the entire series, "Fluffette" (Sesshoumaru's mother). We also witnessed the "death" of Moryoumaru and Akago and became utterly shocked when we learned about the origins of Tenseiga. What will the rest of 2007 bring? Who knows!

I look forward to continue scanlating through to the end so long as this series doesn't dip far into 2009.

I'd like to thank everyone who's made this year possible: Ris, Kuro, Urd-chan, Azula. koopa593, Harley, doggieearlover, Patches, Kaze, HaRi KaRi, BQQbsaDFrW, and especially "The Anonymous Friend".

Finally, if you've ever had any burning questions about me or Freelance-Manga. Feel free to ask.

Thanks Starks. Without Freelance, where would I get my Inuyasha fix?

Happy Birthday Freelance.  And to all those that work both on the scans and the translations, many thanks.

Starks, or anyone else that maybe interested in answering……..how were you introduced to IY ?

As for myself, my older son showed me the anime, many moons ago and I went from there.

Strange as it sounds I discovered it because it was on after Family Guy and ATHF at the time. I watched sporadicly at first and was hooked around the time Kagura was introduced. I don't know if I was watching the firstrun or reruns.

Happy Birthday, Freelance and Starks!  Here's hoping you won't have to still translate this manga a few years from now?  Smiley

Ha, I'm probably one of the few who found out about this manga right after it first came out in Japan because I've always been a big Takahashi fan.  God have mercy upon my soul.

Sorrel, I first encountered Inuyasha on Adult Swim in 2002 and it wasn't even into the first 30 episodes before I spent a few days in the Spring and Fall of 2003 where I marathoned the 50 or so episodes fansubbed to catch up with Japan. I didn't start following the manga religiously until the Summer of  2004 right before the anime ended in September.

I first encountered InuYasha in form of the English Manga about four years ago. A now ex-friend had lent the first 5 volumes to me in math class. I found the anime on Adult Swim around the same time, back when they still showed the opening.

Happy birthday freelance!

I got into the series several years ago (like 2001) on the recs of a few friends. I'd already long been an anime/manga fan, but wasn't particularly interested in checking out RT's work. At my first convention, IY was a hot topic of conversation amongst friends and I just had to check it out. The rest is history.

Happy anniversary Starks, we all owe you one. And here's hoping the series is complete before you get bored in '09.

Personally, I got into Inuyasha because a friend of mine suggested I check out the manga in '03. It was the first manga series that I was really able to get into, and I suppose that's why I'm still attached to it. I know this is crazy, but I didn't get into the anime until the next year, when I spent all night watching Adult Swim while keeping a vigil over one of my pets as he passed away (He wasn't suffering, he just slowly faded out from old age.) – I remember the episode was the one with the fake water god. Now that I think about it, I think that was also about the time I started getting into Family Guy.

Happy Birthday for the Site!^^
And thank you for the hard work, energy and time you've spent on it – I think we all are truly grateful for you to let us read the latest manga chapters and download them directly^^"

Anyway, it was in 2005 when I first came upon Inuyasha. You know, it was just before my final exams in high school and of course I had to do everything but studying! xDD (A miracle I succeed on my exams^^" o.O). So, I was surfing through the TV channels when I came upon Anime+ (it was a really new channel back then, but I let you to guess which sort of channel it is xD), anyway, I quickly skipped it, but it didn't leave me alone, so I eventually went back to that and if I remember correctly, that was the first or the second episode when Shippou introduces himself, so it was pretty bakc in the beggining (now THAT is a miracle, since I always get to see shows from near the end xD). Anyway, when I ran out of fresh Inuyasha episodes (hehe… Japanese dub and Ensligh sub xD) and fanfics, and etc, I began searching for the manga… then… I realized, Kuro doesn't do scanlations any longer and I was really sad, because it was a pain not to see what happens, but read her explanations-translations :S
Back then, it was really hard to find this site (oh, how much hours I sat here, seraching for a site where I can download directly whole scanlationed chapters in Englsih @.@), but I'm really grateful I find this site :)

… Ack! Sorry! I don't know, what's with me… I'm probably too high because of Coke – I needed it, 'case I had my first exam todayˇˇ" T_T
Oh yeah, good luck with your exams, too, Starks! :) Ganbatte kudasai! ;)

Happy Birthday Freelance.

Many Thanks to Starks and all the others.

I believe my first experience with Inuyasha was at the same as arvael. Back in June 2005, my painful APs were over and I was just going through channels one night. On adultswim i caught a rerun of the very first episode. Im not a fan of anime sub, only dub so I got hooked and watched every night after that. When I figured out that the anime wasnt the end of the series thanks to wiki, I came upon this great site in fall 2006 and been hooked since.

Thank you so much.  I had only known Inuyasha from the TV series.  When it ended I was in a state of crisis.  I thought I would never know how things ended.  Then I found this site.  You give me hope.  I also love reading your discusion forumns.  Your hard work does not go unappreciated, at least not by me.

Azula, so long as Rumiko has any shred of sanity left, she'll end it by the end of 2007 or in early 2008.

Happy late Birthday! It still amazes me how convinient and efficient this site is. No pop-ups or adds (or viruses), 3 ways to see the manga and a cool group of people. It's the IY motherland!

Happy Birthday Free-Lance!  THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR BEING HERE!!

I just found you guys about 2 weeks ago.  After years of catching my manga updates on either Inu-goya or Ear-Tweak, Kuro and Patches stopped updating ; ;, leaving me with no real IY story update since october.  After doing searches for manga updates then and not finding anything I gave up till recently I decided to do another search again, and found you^^.  So happy to have found you guys so I know whats going on with my favorite characters^^.  See that patches is on your team (miss reading your 'editorial' chapter summaries on Inu-Goya, patches).

My boyfriend stumbled on fan-subbs of IY back in 2004.  I watched the first 100 fan-subbed episodes during my spring break and became an IY addict, and quickly picked up the Manga.  It was fun to read a manga chapter then SEE it on the anime.  I never watched the anime on adult swim (I hate dubbs), and was sad when the Sunrise decided to end the series midway.   I love the manga still, though I really miss hearing Kappei Yamaguchi as Inuyasha ; ;.

Anywho I thank you guys for all the hard work to translate, scan and reinsert english text for us non-Japanese reading folks^^.  It is GREATLY GREATLY appreciated.^^
