  • If you're wondering why there is a bunch of new stuff on the sidebar, it's because I upgraded to Wordpress 2.2 this afternoon and I am having fun with the new widget feature. I still might have one more thing to cross off on my list for this site's first major overhaul.

First Edit: For those still having problems with their avatar, follow the instructions on your member page for this site.

Second Edit: I'm still trying to work out the bugs with the avatars.

Third Edit: Avatars disabled until I can figure this out… Also, do you guys object to me blogging about stuff other than Inuyasha or manga?

Wow… This week was a treat. I'm glad it wasn't spoiled.

There was also an ass-load of dialog and that really took a while… I really need to get back to studying for finals.

Anywho, I like where this arc is going. It doesn't matter whether this is an upgrade, mischief, or farewell arc for Shippou, this is going to be fun as hell.

Cute chapter. Justwhat I was looking for, a little bit of fluff after all the sword angst. Mischievous  Shippou arcs are always fun! I don't see this leading to Shippous exit, but it could lead to a kitsune magic upgrade! Then again, he probably just spends a chapter torturing Inuyasha, gets clobbered, and we move on to the next adventure:D

I can't remember having so much pure fun at one place in any of the previous manga chapters. Probably only (filler) episode 68 "Shippo Gets an Angry Challenge" could come closer. (and parasite arc wasn't even half as funny)

Holy hell, but how did RT know that this is my final exam week? I think this is gonna be a fun arc, I wanted fluff, I think I got fluff. And Kagome's idiot-grin was fabulous.

It also reminded me a hell of a lot of how things get in my Aikido dojo whenever Sensei starts hinting that he wants to do some promotions. Major competition, innocent bystanders becoming unwitting pawns. And they told me that Nippon Kan-style was non-competitive.

So, can someone bemy hero and explain how these avatar things work? (Small words, please, I'm semi-computer illiterate.)

Yeah, David, I think Kagome might have been just two seconds away from scooping them all up in her arms and yelling "Oh they're so cuuuute! Can we take them with us?" At which point Shippou would become insanely jealous. It'd be fun to see Shippou get a little sibling rivalry of his own going on.

Cute chapter, I am so glad it is just a little fluff, not a sword in sight.Refreshing, I loved the fact that Miroku just had to stay as soon as he seen all the "women"…..LOL. And could hardly wait to take a bath. He certainly didn't appear to feel threatened in anyway, until Sango hit him over the head. It is particulary funny in the last panel where everyone's attitude is pretty nonchalant. I wonder who is giving this Exam ? I have to say though Inu had it coming, he stepped on shippou for whatever reason. I suppose RT wanted it so shippou wouldn't look like a bad guy beating up on Inu for the next chapter or so. I can't wait to see what he does next week. I think Kagome was just amused, and like MB said I am sure she did think they were cute.

I never thought I'd be saying this, but poor Shippou.  Poor fox demon kids.  Hundreds of years to become a senior first rank?  Damn, it's the doctorate for demons.

And yes, wtf is up with Kagome?  Geez, the look on her face.  It's that "did I forget to lock all of the doors?" look.  Or the classic "did someone just fart?" grin.

LOL at the last panel.  "Could you make it a little brighter?"  These kids have their work cut out for them.

This chapter IS a big relief.  I am getting weary over the sword thing… upgrades have been going for a year now ><.

I loved seeing the gang just BEING THEMSELVES for a change.  No drama, no fighting, just Inu-tachi goodness all around. Smiley  It was GREAT to see Sango beating on leacherous Miroku rather than being concerned about him XD.  And its nice to see Shippou finally get some spotlight.  This kinda reminds me of a mixture of anime episodes 130 (Shippou's New Technique, Heart Scar!) and 136 (A Strange Invisible Demon Appears!).

You know somethin about the new chapter eh?  eh! gimme!  I hope that Inuyasha takes his new/improved god-sword and sticks it right into naraku’s skull.  Of course…I wouldn’t mind a chapter exclusively devoted to miroku…preferably one where he visits some brothels with inuyasha.  For being such a pimp I give miroku an A+…yah…basically philanders with young women on a daily basis…

Here’s the premise:  (Miroku walks into a brothel with Inuyasha…both piss drunk…)

Inuyasha: Warf the hell are we?

    Miroku:  (grunts)  We’re home…

Inuyasha:  One a you lufly young ladies wanna help me…ughhh…polish my god-sword?  (chuckles like the drunken fool he is)  wait…..wait…where’s the bathroom!?  it’s gotten….reallllllll….bad…..

(As Inuyasha darts to the bathroom Miroku surveys the herd of prostitutes literally overflowing out of the brothel.  He leans his head back slightly and adresses the room at large.)

    Miroku:  Let the games begin!

    (Like….ten prostitutes just friggin tackle Miroku….it’s a pile on…)

(Several hours later, piss drunk and penniless both men stumble out the saloon dours…both with little drunken smiles on their faces.)

    Miroku:  It’s a good life…

    Inuyasha:  Hell yes!

    Inuyasha for president baby!

Many of you may be wondering why I’m pushing Inuyasha so hard for office…luckily for us all there are some good reasons why we should elect him.

    1:  He don’t take shit! from b**ches!

2:  He is the son of god.

3:  He takes a lickin! and keeps on tickin baby!  It’s what I’m talkin bout!

4:  His political stance is straightforward;  he cuts straight to the heart of most issues…especially when those issues are enormous mutant demons!

5:  He believes in tighter gun control;  one time this guy shot him with a gun and Inuyasha totally handed this guy his own ass on a silver platter.

6:  Inuyasha and his vice president, Senator Miroku, will make prostitution legal in every state and in every supermarket…they know full well that sometimes you just need a brothel AND some friut-rollups.

7:  Since he is only half human he can, at the worst, only be half as bad as the other guy.  That’s twice as good in my book!

In conclusion…Inuyasha is the right choice for president and the obvious choice for you.  Jump on the band wagon today and remember!  when you cast your ballot vote Inuyasha!

wow…this chapter kinda went the exact opposite direction that Takahashi was going just last week…I hope that shippo actually becomes useful now, he was such a waste of space before…maybe he'll learn a technique to squeeze himself into the tiniest little box and die in it haha.  I will say outright that he is present for comedy value, I don think he has done much of anything relevant in at least a year.  Good for him!

I didn't think about it until later, no one has referred to Inuyasha as a hanyou in this chapter. Or put him down for being one, since shippou has in the past, I found that kind of nice.

This group of "rough" and roudy kits are right up shippou's alley. A bunch of boys that shippou can impress with his tails of braverly against the dreaded Naraku.  I could see him becoming a sort of leader of this group.

Sorrel: I didn't find it nice, I found it weird and irritating. Instead they referred to him as youkai, which is completely inaccurate and imho if anything demeaning to IY. They're not accepting him/not insulting him, they just don't realize what he is for some bizarre reason. They must be pretty weak youkai (or stupid ones) if they can't sense that he's half human. Same goes with them not realizing Kagome is a miko. Even random villagers have been able to surmise that.

Haro, shippou could have corrected them, he chose not to.

It could be because he wants a higher grade on his test. I do like the fact that he didn't refer to him as a hanyou, since in the past he used it in front of others in a demeaning manner. The whole group is fairly young, they may have limited contact with the outside world. They did notice that Miroku was a priest and Sango and slayer, perhaps they have had run-ins with those types of ppl before. They may not have ever met a shrine maiden, or a hanyou before.

    (Quote)

Sorrel: I noticed Shippou did not correct them, and figured it was as you said, because he wanted the points.

But I don't like him not referring to him as hanyou because it's just not correct. I wouldn't want to be referred to as something I'm not, and it came across to me a subtle slam on IY's character that Shippou can't fess up that his 'older bro' isn't what they think he is. It is true that near the beginning of the series IY was referred to as hanyou in a demeaning manner by Shippou, but I don't see how it's development to have him just referred to as something he's not- as something stronger than what he really is. Development would be him accepting what he is, and using the term in a non-demeaning manner.

I know it's a minor nitpick, but having him repeatedly referred to as youkai by the kitsune and Shippou the whole chapter just gave me an involuntary twitch. It for some reason really got under my skin and was a contributing factor to my dislike of this chapter (I was really excited for this chapter btw). IY has supposedly been persecuted his entire life for being a hanyou, by youkai. That seems a bit plothole-ish to me that at least seventy-six high level youkai can't even sense he's not one. There are obvious physical signs, and of course his aura/youki, which they can undoubtedly sense.

Miroku and Sango they likely figured out from their clothes alone, not previous experience. Sango is after all, the last of the taijiya. A taijiya is less known as far as a 'role' than a miko would be, as they're just a small village of people. A miko is such a common role that there's no way it wouldn't be absolute common knowledge. Shouldn't a youkai be able to sense holy energy, even if they're not particularly strong?

Let's all cross are fingers that this is not an upgrade arc. I hold at hope that this is just a comedy arc, and that Shippou walks away having gained a little maturity but without any new fire power.

Bigfan: I had always meant to watch Trinity Blood when it started airing, but never got around to it. Right now I'm rereading Elfen Lied. It's driving me nuts though, I still haven't read the ending, I can't find scans past Ch. 75, and the anime changed the ending.

Bigantfbi, I have only watched one esp. of trinity blood, I liked it but I have been busy downloading other series. With dial up it is a serious commitment just to finish a series. (Dial up is the only available internet in my area…..outside of going with Sat. I looked into Sat. but it is far too expensive for what it is).

DavidK, I haven't found anyone beyond chapter 75 for elfen lied. I just cruised some places that I use to download just to see if I could find it…….sorry.  I haven't read any of the manga yet, I have the anime of it on DVD. Just one more thing to add to my list.

I prefer watching the anime and then going to the manga. If the manga is better (that is usually the case) then I could enjoy it even more :)

As for Trinity Blood, I've watched it recently and liked it a lot. However I find it very very similar to (the much older) Trigun. It is so similar that I won't be surprised if they are created by same author (can't see similar names in AnimeNfo).

Gears of War is planned to be a series, according to Epic (the developers).  I'm pretty sure they'll release it in 2008.

Microsoft has 2 big guns now, Halo and Gears of War.  Every year will alternate a title of each series.

    2006 – Gears of War

    2007 – Halo 3

    2008 – Gears of War 2

    2009 – Halo Wars

    Something along those lines, Kagome.

I don't know about you heathens, but I think Miroku's shenanigans have gotten really, really, OLD.  Like, old enough to have a boy scout help it across the street old.  He attempts to court every hot chick he sees. Sango beats him over the head. OKAY, WE GET IT!  Man, she ought to break out an uzi and just shoot up the place.Smiley

Beans and Cornbread: Nippon Kan isn't affiliated with Ki Society and Tohei-Sensei. In fact, we're not really affiliated with anyone, Homma-Sensei prefers his independence. If I had to say there was one group that Homma's closest to, it would be the Aikikai Hombu lot, but that's because he studied with them for so long. I think he's also on good terms with Tohei, at least that's what we've heard at the Milwaukee branch of Nippon Kan. (Homma-sensei's dojo is in Denver. Nippon Kan's distribution practices are…complicated.) Some of the students at our dojo have worked with Tohei-sensei, including Deiro-sensei our kancho, and they've always brought back really awesome new techniques from his seminars.

Beans and Cornbread: I agree. I realize it's just a comedic gag, but it's getting old of him. He needs to grow up in that respect. He is engaged. It's one thing to eye a pretty girl, but it's a totally new thing to let girls clambor all over you. Miroku will always have an eye for the girls, but it's totally inappropriate for him to engage in this kind of behavior when he's supposedly engaged. He really, really, doesn't act like he is in any kind of relationship.

Everyone has their comedic flaws. IY had a lot early series, but he's pretty much mellowed out. The bickering with Kouga is two-sided and hurts no one, just mildly frustrates Kagome. The Shippou thing is also two sided, and often instigated by Shippou and not IY. Kagome only uses the sit command anymore when IY really deserves it, which is seldom. Outside a few situations, that's the only time she's ever used it. It's just that IY deserved it more earlier on. xp I know it's a joke, but it bugged me in this chapter. Miroku is already hiding the fact that he's dying from the woman he proclaims to love, so he's got a lot of nerve pushing the envelope with this. It might be comedic, but Sango's got enough on her plate already. She shouldn't have to deal with Miroku's shenanigans.

Eh, I've seen one too many guys who act just like Miroku while dating, engaged, married, or separated/divorce isn't yet final.  They never "grow up".  Not that they don't like their significant others, but they can't help themselves around women.  (And I've seen women like this, too, just so the blame isn't on all men.)

When you look at it this way, it doesn't bode well for their future after the final battle, but you just kind of figure that everyone will live "happily ever after," anyway.

KagomeKagome: Yeah I've no doubt there are guys out there like that. But I really think especially with all Sango's going through, he could hold back just a bit. Although its' a comedic gag, the fact that Miroku in a sense isn't being faithful is a genuine very big issue. It might be okay in Urusei Yatsura where 3/4 of the cast is certifiably insane (and I love them for it), but for an emotionally broken girl like Sango, it just isn't going to cut it.

I agree that the lecherous monk gag has gotten old but as soon as another action arc starts it will be dropped. He always switches from pervert to strategist as soon as  things get serious. I think that is the reason the joke gets so old to me, while it has caused serious issues to arise between he and Sango (like the catfish yokai arc), it's usually just a sight gag.

Seeing lechorous Miroku was amusing, but I do agree that he needs to start acting like he's engaged.  This is a guy that gets jealous and sends 100 punches to a dude's head if anyone tries to come on to Sango.  He needs to learn it goes both ways, and I don't blame Sango half the time whenever she knocks him on the head with her weapon.

Yeah, it's one of those things that I hope works itself out before the end of the series.  Sango doesn't deserve such crap after all she's been through.  Though I must admit, Sango's beyond-pissed reaction still manages to make me giggle.  I'd be very, very afraid of that woman.

(Yeah, yeah…Miroku's been through a lot, too, being born with the kazaana, but blame it on his lecherous monk family genetics. ;) )

I remember seeing a news broadcast, don't remember exactly what the programs was, about current problems in Japan reguarding men and thier wandering hands. There was a group of women that were trying to get public transportation, trains esp,  to set aside certain cars just for women only, because they were constantly being molested. Men however strongly protested it, because it would deprive them of what they considered thier "right" to cop a feel now and then. The men won.

To me it would be an opportunity to find out about other anime/manga that I have not yet checked out. Find out others opinions on a series, what they like or don't like about it. A story line or two would certainly help in deciding if I like it, and if it is worth buying.
