i honestly dont believe RT would end the series without providing a little detail to what happens AFTER the death of Naraku…she is smart enough to know that fans want details…we want to know the choices that are made following the final battle…will inu stay half demon or become full demon? will Kagome live in the past or the present? what will happen with Sango? will she return to the slayers village? etc etc…. it would be in extremely poor taste to end it without answering such important questions…. not to mention it wouldnt make much sense to end a story in the FIRST chapter of a brand new volume….

The jewel's completion doesn't mean the series' ending, who knows, maybe after Naraku completes it thanks to Kohaku's shard, someone shatters it again, and so Rumiko can give us another 500 chapters

I don't think this is the end yet though it sure does seem as if RT is tieing up some ends.  She has fooled us before and she seems to have endless ways of prolonging the suffering.  The end probably would not be such a bad thing.  Much as I love Inuyasha I am ready to see how it all ends though I fear she may not give us that satisfaction.  Anyway when she "stops" writing Inuyasha maybe she will come up with another interesting manga.  Who knows, maybe Sesshomaru's story (that would be nice).  Oh well, we can only read and speculate!

i think sesshomaru should have a full youkai kid who is all pissed because rin inherits bakusaiga… inuyasha should stay hanyou, but i have a strange feeling he and naraku might kill each other, severing kagome's main tie to sengoku jidai. maybe she'll meet with his reincarnation in modern tokyo. just a hunch, but i'll leave it in rumiko's care and just enjoy it as i read it.

on another note, wouldn't the completion of the shikon no tama mean that naraku is insanely powerful now? i could see this dragging out for ages longer, although the jewel is whole again. i can't wait to see what happens. will the manga be up on wednesday like usual? because in that case, i'm not reading a spoiler tomorrow, even if it is here. ORIDGION's idea about Naraku in Tokyo is pretty cool.  I mean, it would be a completely new battle ground for Naraku and InuYasha, meaning not the same old "Kaze no Kizu" and normal Naraku tricks… it would be "Meido Zangetsuha" and special Naraku tricks.

Ah, this definitely won't be the final chapter, but I'm glad it's finally getting somewhere. I think that after 10, almost 11, years of writing and drawing InuYasha and co, RT wouldn't leave us hanging over anything. I mean, remember, she loves her own characters, too. She's devoted too much time and effort into them to simply leave them in a badly-hanging ending. I have faith in RT as a storyteller, and I think she has a ways to go yet. She's certainly keeping /me/ on my toes, I don't know about you guys. Will Kohaku live? Not looking good. Is Miroku really over Magatsuhi's curse? It's looking good. But for both, you never know!

Anyway, the manga says that Kohaku is alive cos of Kikyo purifying powers. Sesshoumaru went to find Rin as he believed that that magatsuhi brought rin to naraku. The whole Shikon no Tama is tainted by Naraku and the next chapter says that It is the final battle with Naraku.

Yep, the chapter's out, Rin was abducted by Magatsuhi's leftover spirit so that he and Naraku can somehow manage to make Tenseiga useless against Magatsuhi, the jewel is complete (and is now 100% evil) and Kikyou abandoned her plan to kill Naraku with her powers from the center of the jewel and shard and instead used her essence/powers to allow Kohaku to live a normal life without aid of the jewel shard.

I've just read the chapter 529, and as most of you suspected, the end is near.  After this chapter, the big final battle will take place (or so the end banner says).  Here is a spoiler of sorts:

Sango is distraught over Kohaku's shard loss.  InuYasha blames himself, and Kagome feels helpless.  Miroku is up and around again, since Magatsuhi's influence has left him.  Then Kagome realizes that Kikyou's light is still present in Kohaku's wound.  When he revives, all are happy, but apprehinsive since now Naraku has a complete and utterly corrupted jewel.  Oh, and Sesshomaru goes after Rin who is kidnapped as bait since Naraku wants to seal his new sword.

 Wah, I don't want it to end!!!!!
