Sesshoumaru doesnt have a real reason to be there, but he has always been a misteryous guy that you cant understand easyly. He took a human with him, is always walking around with no real reason ( looking for a sword? Naraku? I dont know). Kouga was too slow to chalenge naraku and could have killed his friends ( the two that are always following him) if he continued, or could have been killed. Shippou, jaken and him are there because sesshoumau and Inuyasha's group is there( Rin was kidnaped, is that why she is there and may be why shessoumaru is there to).

@Haro:

I'll agree about Kohaku's more solid reason for being in Naraku more than the other children and the amusing lackey. If he ends up doing something against Naraku then I will be happy and agree with her choice.

However, right now it seems to me she just kind of chucked the rest of them in there for no real reason (yet.) That's what bothers me about it. She originally set it up so that they wouldn't be there. Yet, here they are and they still haven't played an active role for the final (yet.)

what?? how u gonna say the only reason that sesshoumaru is so powerful is because rumiko made him like that?? if thats the case you might as well accept that shes writing the story, not you or anyone else and what happens is what happens… but i guess kouga does have more of a reason to be there that sessoumaru tho but that doesnt mean he shouldnt be there if someone tried to claim your like as theirs, repeatedly kidnapped your daughter (yeah i know…) and almost had her killed every time, you'd wanna whoop they ass too and as far as them feeling out of place… i doubt sesshoumaru is even concerned with the inu-groups presence at this point to be worried about "nobody's my friend" ya digg…

Ginnekomiko: I agree with you that Kouga has a better reason to be there than Jaken, Rin, Shippou or Sesshoumaru.

...But Kohaku?

I would argue that Kohaku has gotten the worst deal of the entire cast. Not only was his entire village killed (like Kouga's tribe), but he was the one who did it. Not much of anyone has anything on what Kohaku has been through in the series.

Sesshoumaru is such an author's darling. Instead of feeling excitement on seeing that tableu of the group against Naraku for the final time, I just felt irritation towards the fact that Sesshoumaru was with them. I would not have minded if it were just the Inu-tachi, this group that has journeyed together for so hard and so long, but Sess being there is almost a bit insulting to every cast member who has legitimately had aspects of their life destroyed by Naraku, but isn't there because Rumiko wouldn't bother or she killed them earlier on. He feels very out of place, next to this group of young people that have become as family. Kouga would fit in better, definitely. IY is closer to him (seriously, he is) and of course so is the rest of the group. It's author favoritism to the umpteenth degree.

And yeah I know Sess is "powerful" and therefore a better option, but he's only that powerful because Rumiko went out of the way to give him bakusaiga recently, so he could be present here. She could have done the same for Kouga. He was only not powerful enough because that's how she wrote him out. Plus, about fifty percent of the cast members there aren't powerful enough to inflict real damage.

Did pas on your minds that Byakuya migth be alive and that migth have been one of his ilusions? I mean, i dont like him that much, but his deth still seemed so ridiculous that may be only a ilusion. So, do you think this?

@arialisson I was also annoyed that Kouga didn't even get a mention sure he probably wouldn't be as powerful as say, Sesshomaru, but, he has a better reason to be there than him, Kohaku, Shippo, Jaken, or Rin. Yet he's not. That's favoritism for you. I'm still kinda hoping he'll show up one last time before the manga truly ends.

The past ten chapters resolved nothing.

Naruku might still get away...which disgusts me unbelievably...

If Takahashi has the balls to let Naraku escape again she might be the most ballsy person to have ever lived.

If this brain-trust of superhumans can't defeat Naraku on the spot...they better hack Naraku up into small pieces and shove them all down the Kazaana before it dissapears.

@Arialisson – No I don't think the "real" battle took place yet. I'd consider what all lead up to this. Sort of an endurance test. Seemingly they passed but also Samuraidemonpuupy also brings up a good point. What did Byakua’s Mediou like sword really cut? It seemed to have hit Kagome but left no damage. So it may of been a different weapon of the sort. And if InuYasha did block the attack. Then he is the one fated with whatever the real attack may be.
