Just one thing… The perfect wish that will make the shikon no tama disappear is 'I wish you would disappear forever?' How did no one figure that out earlier? When I first heard about the 'perfect wish' I wondered if they could just wish for the jewel to disappear, but it seemed too simple.

Maybe there is some symbolism there about not seeing what's in front of your face, but maybe Takahashi just got a little lazy with this one. I dunno but it feels a little like a cop out.

It's clear that she says "Shikon no Tama. Disappear!" But… Does she actually say "Forever".
It looks to me that the word "forever" appears in a thought bubble. Kinda like the one at the end of Ranma that fooled a lot of people.

The epic struggle with the jewel is over. We had the epic battle with Naraku and now the Jewel has finally been destroyed. The jewel dissapearing is what was suppose to happen all along to end the story. It started with the Jewel and it ended with the Jewel. This is the right way to end the story, but we still have one last chapter left. This chapter had better tie together all the remaining stories together nicely.

I am waiting with more anticipation then ever.

P.S. my birthday is Wednesday also, so this is going to be a very emotional week for me.(Just so you guys knows)

Last page was awesome. Kagome and Inuyasha embracing (aw…) in the weird light. I find it funny it's been 557 issues and they still haven't kissed!!! well except in the movie… but that doesn't count.

On a side note, I'm very proud at myself for resisting the temptation to see the spoiler for the last chapter. I really wonder how it will wrap up in 20-some pages.

Cop out?  Random?  Ah no, not at all.   I found it very appropriate that the Jewel was dealt with in such a straightforward manner.  Plus,  there was more to this issue than simply making the 'right wish'.   After all, the two pivotal characters in this tale have been Kagome and InuYasha.  It was fitting that the end of the Jewel should arise from these two confirming their faith in, and loyalty to, one another. 

Now, the last issue should be quite the event — there are, after all, several loose ends to tie up.   Will Kagome and InuYasha remain together?   And, if so, in what time era?  If Kagome can't return to the Feudal Era, will she get a chance to say good-bye to the others?   And, btw (if I remember right), we still don't know if Sesshoumaru has forgiven Sango for her willingness to sacrifice Rin in order to kill Naraku.    (I want one last peek at my favourite dog demon, dang it. ;p)

See?   There's still room for speculation…

OK, the wish was obvious, but no one else has had the self discipline and lack of greed to completely reject the jewel without trying for just one little thing.  That is what made the difference.

Now, we wait for Inuyasha and Kagome to decide what they want for themselves, without any dreaded fate or duty or consequence hanging over their heads.  I'm very eager to see what they decide they really want.

Anyway, before I space on it, a great big rousing thank you to Starks, Patches and the whole crew who contributed to getting this online for all us poor saps who just couldn't wait for VIZ to get their act together and print the books. (And, there's a lot less bonehead panels too.  I was getting awfully tired of seeing the wrong dialog in the speech bubbles.)

Well, I do fall squarely into the "jaded" Inuyasha fan catagory, and I can see where you guys who liked the chapter are coming from, but I still can't help that this felt anti-climatic.  I mean, whatever happened to Inuyasha wishing on the jewel to become human and all that good stuff?  But maybe after so much build-up, anything would have seemed that way.

Hello to all, this is mine first post. 
I read Inuyasha here from last year, and it would comment before the series finished.

Pretty this chapter 557, specially for the subtlety of the pages 16 and 22, which show up the affection what they harbor mutually.

Before reading this chapter, it had the clear sensation which the last chapter would stop the impression of which Naraku might come back to life (his soul, at least) and to unleash a last throw in the battle. Now, I see that not no chance of this to happen.

In the near week we will have the last chapter and from now, I stay with heart held tight and a lump in the throat, waiting for the inevitable ending of more this great work of Rumiko Takahashi. Thank for the Starks, Patches & cia for the magnificent work and I wait what tolerate my bad English.

I really didn't guess that Inuyasha will end like this soon…I think it's too fast comparing with the last stories. In fact, I thought this will go until next volume at least:( I wonder Rumiko-san could end Inuyasha well by just one chapter(I'm a little worried…will the amount be a lot?). Anyway, I expect to see Sesshy more kuku…yes, and other people, too

I thought that the "right wish" was WAY to obvious, and I had thought from the beginning why they couldn't of just wished it away long before.

Now I wonder this- What was Kagome's first thought of the "right wish"? That just kinda went away. She said that if Inuyasha had not come to her, she wouldn't have found the "right wish", and lost her soul to the darkness. So then what WAS her first "right wish" that was the "wrong wish"?

I will be really pissed if Inuyasha and Kagome are not together. Man, if they weren't that would be REALLY stupid. That's where my anxiety is around right now, Inuyasha and Kagome. All I have to wait for now after next week is Full Metal Alchemist and (oh god, this is just terrible) Naruto. I only read Naruto for the hope that Sasuke gets killed…I HATE him…and along that, Shippuden really sucks now, so…

I'm gonna miss Inuyasha. But one question Starks- Will you keep the site up for us? You know, so we can talk about the ending? And possibly could you keep it up to tell us about the anime- Because at a recent Inuyasha panel at a con(I can't remember which one), the person(can't remember his name) was saying the word "hiabus" quite alot, and wasn't saying anyting about the anime every really being cancelled. Exactly. I dislike when people say they've kissed, but they really haven't yet. I hope Takahashi gives us just one kiss of InuKag… I mean, come on, just once!
