I kinda knew she'd end up in Inuyasha's time. Rumiko Takahashi has always subtly portrayed a negative image of the adult life in modern Japan.

Many of her adult characters have gone through different sorts of "hardships". Widows (Kyoko Otonashi), widowers (Soun Tendo), separation (Ranma's parents), "ronin-hood" (Yusaku Godai), life in debt (Ataru's parents). There are probably clearer examples in her short stories (where there's no pressure from readers).

One more thing, though. This is probably the brightest "future" she could've given to the protagonists from her shonen animes. I mean, Ataru and Ranma are not very smart. What sort of future could they have in the real world?

But it seems that the ending it's gonna let me down. There are still a lot of thing not explained and a lot of scenes I'd love to have  seen.

And I don't think Sesshomaru would take the risk to leave Rin in a human village were she could be killed by a demon attack.(The last time he let her there she was kidnapped by Naraku) Besides I'm sure that even if he left her there she would follow him.

I think that, since Rumiko has extended the story so much, we the fans do deserve at least an epilog volume. I'd love to have seen how was Sesshomaru's childhood, or how did Inuyasha's dad and mum meet, why she died so soon how was the first meet of Sesshomaru and Inuyasha, and so on..
Well, may be it will be shown in a movie or hopefully in the continuation of the anime series. (T_T)

I think that it's good for RT to leave the story open a little bit. Ya know, so the reader can imagine all the stuff they want to happen. RT can't be specific and please everyone, so she has to end it like this. But, Kikyo died, Naraku's dead, and the jewel is gone. Those obstacles are out of the way, so it's most likely clear sailing from now on. Though, sometimes, she leaves it too open, which results in not solving the main conflict or just being too vague. I'm not sure about how they got married in the Feudal era in Japan, I actually tried looking it up a long time ago and it was quite confusing.  It almost seemed in some respects that the family allowed a man to come live with the daughter or that they would make an agreement that the couple would live together and that constituted that they were married.  It was quite binding, not casual but not like we do today. I think perhaps they would announce the inpending union and I'm sure there was a ceremony but not always.  If anyone knows how this worked please enlighten us because I found trying to find out very confusing.  That said, Inuyasha and Kagome are probably married when she returns.  I imagine Miroku and Sango began to live together which constituted a marriage.  Rin living with Kaede is a very good idea for her because following Sesshomaru is not going to be good for her, however, Sesshomaru seems to be in the picture so he has not abandoned her, he is keeping an eye on things, it seems.  I will not say anything else until I read the ending but from what I can see, Rumiko did a pretty good job of concluding things.

It's good, because :

- We can all imagine what happened between the two heroes… (kiss, Wedding,  etc… )

- The relation ship between Kagome and Sesshomaru is clearly different…

- The Well has returned…

- Kagomé stays at Sengoku Jidai, and InuYasha is always an Hanyo (Yurucco, as said Koga… Lol… )…

AND… It's no good, because :

- What about Koga and Jaken ??? We don't know…

- Anyone died in this battle…

- Naraku was defeated so easily…

- We don't know exactly about Kagomé's big soul !!!! Is it the same as Kikyo's ???

- What's Sesshomaru's new goal after that ?

Wow, I thought they would live in the present era, but I really liked this!  Plus it made me sad to think that the Yasha-tachi wouldn't know what happened to Kagome and Inuyasha if they just stayed in the present, so I'm glad I was wrong.

 So Souta is in grade 9 in that scene (the same age as Kagome at the beginning).  Do you think he will be as tall as Hojou and Inuyasha were or will he still look kind of like a little kid?!

I'm pretty happy with this ending and I'm looking forward to seeing what wasn't revealed in the spoiler.

I read both Ranma and Urusei Yatsura's endings and I gotta say that I liked UY's a lot more than Ranma's. Personality-wise, there aren't many differences between Ranma and Inuyasha. The same can be said for Akane and Kagome. But Lum and Ataru…they're something else.

But anyhow, here it goes:

SPOILER FOR URUSEI YATSURA:

Lum and Ataru have to replay the game of tag from when she first came to Earth. Ataru has to tell her that he loves her in order to win, or otherwise, she and her friends will be erased off of the memories of everyone on Earth. Ataru thinks that if he told her that, under such circumstances, she won't know if it's true or not.

Ataru wins after an "aw" moment that didn't include any love confessions. Earth is saved. Everyone's mad at them for putting Earth in danger.

At the very end, they are shown running side-by-side in their school uniforms (just like in Ranma).

Very much in line with the entire story, their final lines are:
-"Even if it takes me a lifetime, I'll make you say it"
-"I'll say it on my deathbed."

I can't believe it…. They, (I mean Kagome and Inu) they haven't kissed in the final chapter!!!!!! It just can't be. The end is very nostalgic and sad at the beginning but in the end, everything ends well. I don't know, if it's the best ending…

Actually, two of them were twins, and, yes, it is 40 pages long, including some extra artwork Rumiko threw in.

i just read the last chapter. what a letdown!! where is the romance i was waiting for so long??? no kiss?? it deserved much more emotion. but now it just ended nonchalantly… soso sad TT________TT

 they don't see each other for 3 years. and then she comes back, but there isn't much emotion. this is like a bad fanfic.

so what was his wish that he did "at the time he died" to be with kagome? very unlikely. he wants kikyou.yet he killed kikyou 2 or 3 times. and kagome get's sucked into the meido. PURPOSE?? all the effort, for what wish?

I was disappointed in the end. I was expecting a
kiss, but to no alas. And I can see that there was a time difference
between Kagome's return and the last page(Kagome knew that she and
Inuyasha were going to be married when she came back?! I don't think
so). Also, in the chapter, instead of calling the present "my world",
she called it "this world". That makes me happy inside because that
means she thinks of the Sengoku Jidai as "her world".

I hope
when/if they continue the anime, they will fill in that time slot where
Inuyasha and Kagome either kiss(they've gotta kiss, it's just not
natural for them not to if they're married), Inuyasha's proposal, all
that good stuff. And hey, if Rumiko allows them, they might even bring
the story a little farther than the manga goes, if it's popular enough.
You know, tell a new adventure after everything is all said and done.
(not the 3-year time skip, that'd be boring). 

I found it
amusing that Inuyasha did not simply "fade away". Instead, the well
sucked him down into it, not allowing anymore passage through the two
eras. But it was so cute when Kagome came through the well, and the
look on Inuyasha's face was just filled with all this emotion! It was
AWESOME AND WONDERFUL! If they continue the anime(Starks, please let us
know if they will or not!!), then I'll be one of the happiest people on
Earth(All the Inuyasha fans will be super happy!).

This manga was
my favorite of all…now I'm sad that I have to resort to Naruto and
Bleach for my manga needs. I'm gonna miss Inuyasha SO much! I've
followed it for way too long! It grew on me so much!

But the
think about the manga is-It's not boring to reread. You could go
through the manga a million times and you're still captivated by it! It
can still make you cry and get angry, even though you know it all works
out. Inuyasha is just a manga that doesn't get old. Whereas, the anime
is different. You can get tired of watching the anime episodes after a
few times, especially when the end sucks. But still, the manga(I've
reread alot of chapters like 20 times already, and I still love it)
just grabs at you. No matter what, your favorite chapter will never
cease to catch your soul. I know Chapter 558 will forever be one I will
always reread(I'd reread it more if Inuyasha and Kagome kissed). Hell,
I've already reread it like 5 times, and it just came out! I've reread
the chapters where the anime lets off about 7 times, the spider-heads
way back then(chapter 40 or something like that) about 15 times. All
the InuKag moments 20 times, MiroSan moments 15…I just love reading
them!

I can't wait to see if the anime restarts, because I want
to see Chapter 495 animated(where Kagome and Inuyasha almost kiss, and
Souta busts in on them)!! It'll be SOOO CUTE!! But I also want to see
Kikyou's final death(minus the kiss between Inuyasha and Kikyou), the
"Happy Soil" guy(scared the living hell out of me), all of the
wonderous InuKag and MiroSan moments. EEE!

 Damn, I typed too
much…But I'm gonna miss this manga soo much! I don't wanna see it
end, not without the kiss we've been waiting 12 years for!!! DAMN YOU
RUMIKO! "It's never what the fans want…" Oh…she gave us what we
wanted…just only half of it. What good is it that they're married if
they(as far as we can tell) haven't freakin' kissed yet?!(Everyone's
gonna harp on this subject, I can tell…)

i really don'T think they are married yet, that's what souta assumed, when kagome declared she is leaving this world to be with inuyasha. also it's logial, that when he says "kagome's married" it means for other men that she's off tha market and off limit ^_____^

yes, i want a proposal! rumiko the "princess of romantic comedy" should give us romance!!

Sesshomaru and Rin.  Seriously she spent all that time developing him and

this is all he gets. and what about the other Toutosai and Wolf tribe.  At least

go into the future and see Rin getting Hot and Sessshomaru being with her

maybe not as lovers but being protected by him.  She said it herself she

wants to be with him forever

awww, I am really sad. I'll miss Inuyasha. But it has dragged on for far too long and its time things come to an end.

I really like this ending, I think its happy and a decent way to sum everything up. I think its cute how Miroku and Sango got married and had children. Too adorable. And also Inuyasha and Kagome ending up together in the end as well.

I wasn't quite as upset with Rin being left behind, because Sesshomaru still visits her right? Of course he will, he loves his little Rin. But everything that happened was satisfying. I'm just surprised Kaede is still alive and kicking O_o

I wasn't really satisfy with the ending. I felt the ending was just a bit rushed. Inuyasha and Kagome didn't even have their kiss or say "I love you" to each other!!  The ending should be more of "inuyasha and kogome"….more dramatic…i guess.  Anyway, the ending was nice, in a way. I liked how it was a happy ending and how they showed each of the characters' life. But it would be better if they could have thier FIRST Kiss lol. Anyway, I really really enjoy the manga + the anime!!! Loved It! Was The Best Manga + Anime I have ever seen!!

Ok so Inuyasha and Kagome don't have their kiss, well I'm not really upset since page 26 of this chapter is really touching, I think it was worth a kiss IMO.

Then we have Sango and Miroku, which is very cute, but I'm still worried about Sango's future, she used to be such a strong woman, now all she seems tol be doing is raising kids and doing the laundry…

Now on the things I'm disappointed with:

First: NOT ENOUGH SESSHOUMARU damnit !!!

And secondly, I'm really upset with rumiko for not EVEN mentionning Kouga

 Overall I think it was a satisfying ending, I can't believe I've been reading this for the past 12 years…it was a great adventure, like always with takahashi.

A kiss would have but it wasn't necessary. The expression on their faces when he pulls her out of the well communicates far more about their feelings for one another than a kiss or an I love you ever could.

I really loved this chapter – everything about it. I'm incredibly excited to see Stark's scans. They're going to be beautiful I just know it.

And I have to commend RT for really developing Inuyasha's character. She really showed how much he's changed and grown up. From Kaede's observation that he's grown wise, to the obvious patience he displays while the twins are trying to slay him, to the fact that he doesn't freak out at the sight of Sesshomaru. Everything points to the fact that he's grown up enough to finally settle down and be at ease with himself and his life with Kagome and that's good enough for me.

And while Rin ended up with Kaede I loved the implication that it was only a trial phase and it would ultimately be her choice where she chose to stay (haha obviously with Sesshomaru of course…). Maybe most touching, to me at least, was his gift of a new kimono. Kaede's words alone suggest that him bestowing her with gifts isn't an infrequent thing. I definitely gave a girlie squeee.

 Everyone has grown up so much *sniffle* I feel like a parent watching my kids go off to their first day of school or something *sigh* Damn that was good.

Not only was I a little perturbed that Sango seems to have become a mild-mannered  baby machine… Miroku was far too nonchalant about the arrival of his firstborn son.

"I got bills to pay"
"Speaking of which, you realize your wife is probably popping out a kid as we speak, right?"

Now I know that during this time in history men weren't even marginally involved in the childbirth process, but remember, also at this time in history the tiniest complication could result in the love of your life bleeding to death.  And he's out casually screwing rich people out of their money without a care in the world.

The fact that his wife has been in labor once before shouldn't be enough to make a man so utterly blasé about the whole thing.
 

At least he's helping her with the laundry.

I agree with Langus.  While a kiss would have been wonderful, Inuyasha has a more discreet way of showing his feelings for Kagome.  The page where he pulls her out of the well shows quite a bit of emotion, so it's good enough for me!  Also, on the second to last page when he's running with her on his back . . . his face is just, so happy.  It made me feel all fuzzy inside x3

I was really happy with this chapter and actually couldn't really think of anything better ('cept maybe a kiss, but I went over that already xD)!  I love the page when Kagome calls Sessy her brother in law, ahaha.  I'm glad we got to see one last bit of humor in this chapter too.  But I can't believe it's over!  I've only been reading for just over a year and a half and I'm shocked.  To all of you who have been reading since the beginning, well I bet you're 10x more shocked than I am!

 I am going to miss Inuyasha, but hopefully they'll continue the anime.  After all, all good things must come to an end. *sniff*

Yea, I agree, that was really predictable. Midoriko (spl?) played a big role in the jewel (in a sense), but there's really nothing with her in the end of it.

And I agree with Ginger on the nonchalant about the baby being born thing.

I can't believe it's over. Last night I was so exsited when I read it but now I'm sad since there is nothing to look forward too each week. Although i can't believe Inuyasha and Kagome got married. Some things wrong with it though they don't explain how hundreds of thousands of demons died in 500 years I mean Inuyasha is two hundred and three ((one hundred and fifty alive then fifty stuck to the tree then three years when Kagome returns and the story is over)).

I can't believe I've been reading this manga for about 11 years now. XP

As for "rushed endings," I've read elsewhere (like 2chan) that Takahashi may have been forced by her editor to come up with a conclusion rather quickly due to declining sales  (don't know how true that is without a sales chart, but it seems to be happening with a few other manga, too).  I'd rather that be the reason instead of the one we touched on in here (back before the creation of the forums) last year:  that she'd just run out gas and wanted to see how long she could milk it.

As for Miroku, he reminds me of my own husband.  Seriously, as a woman who has given birth, there's not much he can do for her, ladies.  It's remarkable that he's helping her with the laundry and trying to bring home food.  Considering the era and nation of origin, he wouldn't be required to do those things.  This means he holds Sango to the highest regard.  And as for Sango being "reduced to a baby producing machine," that was a fact of life in those times.   If those two are living in Kaede's village, her new duties would be to maintain the rice paddies and whatever else the village pays to the daimyou.   Yeah, this is just a story, but Takahashi does try to get history right (sometimes).

I know this is out elsewhere, but I'll keep waiting.  Starks and Patches continue to do the best work in regards to scanalation.  Can't wait to see the joke page, too.

2) Not enough Sesshomaru..I'm interested on why he left Rin with Kaede..even if it was just a trial phase. I wanted to know if he'd become nicer towards Inu and co…and they didnt explain that.
