Inuyasha v56 ch558 "Tomorrow" (Ashita)

犬夜叉 第558話 「明日

As you may notice, I kept my promise that I'd crank up the quality for the final chapter. I still deeply regret not doing that months ago especially now after figuring out that it was relatively easy to learn how. At any rate, I'm not in the mood for an "end of series" speech at the moment but I'll write something either later today or tomorrow. Until then, enjoy the chapter.

Overall, I was happy with the ending, even if it was obviously formulated to make as many readers happy as possible.

For as much as I've said over the years that I'd really like the manga to end on a bittersweet note, the one moment that made my heart leap was when Miroku was exorcising the demon and turned and called out to an offscreen Inuyasha.  I had expected the two couples to go their separate ways at the end, and that was the exact moment when I realized that they would all be happily together by the end of the chapter.

I'm sure the real reason for the three year separation was to let Kagome age a couple years to the point where she's 'legal' before we have her getting seriously involved with Inuyasha and everything else that that entails, but I enjoyed the secondary benefits of their separation.  Miroku and Sango have always been my favorite couple, mainly because it seemed like more of an adult relationship, at the beginning neither one of them was looking for love, they had valid reasons for being attracted to one another, and it progressed slowly and naturally.  It always seemed to me that Kagome fell in love with Inuyasha because he was the first person she laid eyes on when she came out of the well.

Three years later, Kagome has grown up and somewhat sorted out what she wants in life, Inuyasha has mellowed out, and they can re-enter their relationship as adults.   Few people who fall in love at 15 are still together 10 years down the road, and I feel like under these circumstances their relationship has a much brighter future.

If I could change one thing about the chapter, it would be to show Kagome and Inuyasha's separation on the first couple of pages, before the title page, then cut to three years later.  When you have such limited space, every frame counts, and that would have freed up 2 pages of Miroku and Sango lying in bed reminiscing.  (I have previously dubbed Miroku 'professor exposition' for previous crimes.  Few things annoy me more than one character telling the others shit they already know for the readers' sake.)

And there were a few loose ends, a few characters ignored, all things that might have benefited from an extra frame or two.

I have so much more to say but this is going on forever… Thanks as always, Starks.

thank you for sharing all these scanlations with us. without those  people who do so much work delivering us scans and translations, we would have had to wait for a long time to read badly translated viz versions of this.

thank you so much, after all these years.

I am so very sad that it is all over. The ending brought it all together, but it left so much remaining unsaid and unresolved.

I will be very sad next week when there is no new download.

Thanks to Starks and all others that have put their time and effort into making this site!

Starks those scans were beautiful well done! Do you think you might go back and revisit some of the older ones when you have the time?

You get an extra gold star in my book for being a trekkie hahaha Loved that last page :) Harry Kim was a seriously underrated character.

If I have the chance over the next few weeks, I intend to redo volume 46, or at least the first half of it, using tankoubon raws.

The story has finally come to a end. I think this chapter ended the story pretty good. Sango and Miroku had some kidz (and they liked to play with InuYasha and Shippo), Kohaku is taking up the demon slaying job, Shippo is training to become a stronger demon, Rin is staying with Kaeda while Sesshomaru is of doing his thing. (I didn't expect that but it feels proper)

And final InuYasha and Kagome. The two of them being seperated after the jewel was a bit of a curve ball but it helped Kagome to truely know where she wanted to be. When Kagome finished High School she went back to InuYasha after three years of being seperated. I was really hoping for a kiss between the two of them in this chapter but I guess Takahashi just couldn't do. (I am a little sad about that) However the chapter did gives the information that the two of them got married which I guess is good enough. However I didn't think that Kagome would stay in the past, but hay she is with InuYasha and they are going to be together forever and that is what we all wanted deep down even if we didn't get a kiss.

But they are married and that makes me happy.

I have revised my opinion on the Miroku thing, because he is my favorite, and if you give me enough time I can find the excuses necessary to justify any seemingly out-of-character behavior:

He's my favorite character for a reason, and that reason is that there are really two Mirokus. When we met him, he was just a happy-go-lucky, thoughtless rogue with three goals in life: saving his own skin, getting laid, and making a quick buck, and there's no rule he wouldn't break and no one he wouldn't betray to achieve them.

But we quickly learned that it was all a façade, the real Miroku is considerate and self-sacrificing, and much less sex-crazed than he is lonely. He's got a whirlwind of emotions running around in that head of his, and he deals with them by making light of everything; he rarely expresses what he's truly feeling. We've seen his fear and anger get the better of him twice by my count, and in both cases he was back to playing the fool a few pages later. He's also the only main character never to cry during the series.

What I'm trying to say is, even though Miroku appears to be up to his old tricks, charging people a fortune, making Inuyasha do his dirty work with hardly a second thought towards the danger his wife and unborn child are in…  He's a nervous wreck on the inside.  A wreck, I tell ya!  He even strategically planned to be away during the birth, to get his mind off of it.  Yeah… that's the ticket!

Still… one extra frame with him holding the baby, kissing Sango on the forehead, anything, would have made a world of difference.

Sniff.  That was great!  Yes, I agree with what others have said above, sure we didn't get a kiss, and you can harp on about that, but the important thing is that they are together and they are a lot more mature than they were three years ago.  There is no stupid Ranma 1/2 ending with the couple still not open about their feelings.  So I'm happy with that.  And the scenes with Inuyasha and Kagome together (when they first reunite, sitting together, traveling together, gazing at the view) were so sweet, and their expressions were beautifully drawn.

Speaking of beautiful images, these scans look amazing Starks!  Anata wa mono sugoku desu (I hope I wrote that right, I've only been learning Japanese for a month).  Anyway, thanks for all your hard work.

Cheers!

I've thinking about something: since Kagome will stay with Inuyasha, won't there be a time loop, as she isn't originally from the Sengoku era? And assuming they will have children, won't it mean that Kagome is her own ancestor/descendant?

Was a great run, I don't love the ending (sorry I wanted the ill fated love ending where they live sperated successful lives, but are both better individuals because of what they had been through).  Also you have to wonder, if Inuyasha and Sesshomaru are not in the future does that mean they are killed (at least one is immortal) of just leave that plain of existence?  This was also an amazing looking scan.

Thanks alot.

I found I Will(Sweet Dream Mix) more fitting. I really can't believe it is finally over. I really did want a kiss or atleast a "I love you" even though it was obvious they loved eachother.

I remember when I got into Inuyasha in 2002 or so. It was on Adult Swim and I remember seeing this guy leaping from one roof to the next in a red kimono with his silver hair flying in the wind. Obviously is was Episode one. But I fell in love. Even today I still like it… Because Inuyasha reminds me of a friend of mine. My friend moved away without telling me. So I wait for the day he returns. My friend really did seem like a Hanyou. Always neglected and hated. But… That wasn't true. Cause me and another friend were his friends. And that's why, no matter what, he wasn't alone.

damn……I was really ready for the kiss scene right when she came out of the well again…..Smiley Smiley

It kinda nice though….finally Inuyasha and "Kikyou"/Kagome can be together.

If you think about it, Kikyou got what she wanted….she was finally free to just be a regular woman not bound to the shikon no tama, and she got to end up being with Inuyasha as Kagome.  That is awesome how they put her in the miko outfit in the end.  Smiley

I can't top all that has been said here about the characters in Inuyasha, Or the People who've brought US this fantastic diversion and the ending(Domo Arigato(It means: Thank You very much), It's nearly the most Japanese that I know, As My niece was born in Japan while Her Dad who was in the US Navy back then was stationed in Nagasaki Prefecture at the time(around 1970)), Well for the characters, Who says It's the end? For them It's the beginning of their lives together(If this were more than a fantasy of course and a very good and entertaining one at that), Kogome dressed up as what looks like a Priestess(In training?), Inuyasha in His usual costume the Red Kimono, Miroku and the rest(Sans Sango, As She is dressed as is appropriate, She's a Mother now afterall, Not just a Terriffic Demon Slayer) and of course Naraku and the Jewel of the Four Souls is gone forever.

Wow. I'm glad I decided to stick around to read your scans Starks. The ones at AdInuyasha were nothing in comparison to yours. They were clearer, and I could get a better understanding from them. ^^ Great work!

Anyways, on to the discussion. First thing. No kiss. I've gone through that, so whatever. Great idea on the final "joke" if you can call it that, more like a sufficient closure conversation between cast members. I loved the quote, and the image worked perfectly(despite Kagome's outfit, but hey, it was a previous chapter so I can't complain). I can't wait to reread Volume 46 since you said you were going to redo those, because these were just perfect scans.

To the present era, I have no idea that Kagome is her own ancestor/descendant. When you think about it, Kagome should have  already caused a major time loop, with the disappearance forever of the Shikon no Tama, and nothing happened(I'm pretty sure if something was supposed to, Kagome would fade away because the Shikon no Tama was born in her). What happened to the demons…well, I'll just go the fanfiction way and say they are all either

1. Living in a secluded spot where no one would find them, only the government knowing where the are.

2. They are all living with concealment spells and charms activated and acting like normal people among the society.

What happened to Inuyasha and all them(plus Kagome), I would figure the fanfiction way and that there was a mating ritual or ceremony between Inuyasha and Kagome(whoever came up with this idea is a genius!) and that Kagome shall live as long as Inuyasha does. My guess would be then, that Inuyasha dies of old age, and then Kagome dies, or they both get killed by a demon that attack the village(I'm pretty sure they stayed with Kaede, Miroku, Sango, and Shippou, and that Kagome became the head miko once Kaede passed away…Why the hell am I being polite?! I should just say it. Kagome takes over when Kaede kicks the bucket!). Of course, I would go with the old age dying, because for them to defeat Naraku, the strongest youkai(he got rid of Onigumo's heart, so that made him a youkai instead of a hanyou), and live, there as got to be no demon that can defeat those two!

I will now…look forward…TO SEE IF THE ANIME CONTINUES!! Cause if it does, then WOOHOO! I want to see the animators add some more fillers, because fillers are just awesome(at least, their's are). Like the ones based in Kagome's time. I love those. But I want them to add Miroku and Sango's wedding as a filler(even though Kagome isn't there, so that sucks), and see Inuyasha and Kagome's wedding as a fi-WAIT! Inuyasha and Kagome-their new relationship put to the limits in the final, last movie(we won't forget Miroku and Sango and the three little heathens, and no, we're not bringing Kikyou back! She's died 3 different times! I count the time Naraku tried to kill her as a death too, because everyone thought she was gone for good, but then she came back…on the other hand, we might bring her back, but only as a manifestation created by some other dark miko who's eyes are set on Inuyasha…)! And during it, we see Miroku and Sango's wedding as a flashback, and then at the end of the movie is Inuyasha and Kagome's wedding! OOH! I'm SO gonna write that on FanFicton.net.

AND HEY! NOBODY STEAL THAT IDEA! IT'S MINE, AND I HAVE IT QUOTED! SO HAHA! (lol, I'm being mean, but seriously. That story is mine. No one can have it.)

I am proud to say this manga is as old as I am(WOOT! ONLY F***ING 12!), and I've stuck with it for almost 2 years of my life. I've loved every minute of it, and will always be returning to this site to chat with everyone. I can't wait though to see if the anime comes back. Starks, you better announce the official word! We're counting on you!

I'll be back later!!

And on a side note(I forgot to mention this), word is they "cancelled" the anime because it stretching it out too far(too many fillers). You know what I have to say at that?

BULLCRAP. Forgive me if I'm wrong, but Inuyasha had about 15-20 fillers. Now I have to look at this-

Naruto. Fillers in the first part-90(something to this effect. The most in anime history sums it up pretty well). Fillers in second part-10 1/2(one of the episodes is half-filler, half-canon)

If you ask me, THAT'S stretching it out too long, and the real reason Inuyasha was "cancelled" really is only that the ratings dropped, but I bet they dropped even more after they ended it with the stupid ending. In my opinion, it was just getting good. They needed patience. And besides, if ratings really DID drop, why do they keep airing reruns of it out here and out there? Because they want the anime to remain fresh in our minds for when they continue, and we remember where we left off.

I dunno bout you guys, but I actually didn't care Inuyasha and Kagome didn't kiss. I mean it's fair to everyone. Kagome MARRIED Inuyasha, Kikyou just get's the kiss. :D It is fair to both of them, in my opinon. Yamahato: I saw on youtube a discussion about the animators and people that do the animation (idk what to call them XD) continueing the anime once the manga is done (someone sent me it but I dunno where the video is… D:) And I hate fillers. They are what started this InuxSag outrage, in which I hate so much xD. (And I wanna read that fanfic of churs o3o…)

Kristyn: The only fillers I like are the ones where Inuyasha is in Kagome's time. Those are the only ones. And, sadly, eventually, InuXSan would of come up anyways, because that's what crack-people are. They create crack-pairings that make no sense, have no possibility of happening. Just there for the kicks. Like SessKag(Kagome. Sometimes it's hard to decipher between Kagura and Kagome)-It's a crack-pairing. SessInu-Crack-pairing. Each anime has a crack-pairing, and they're not that hard to come up with. I'm not gonna say anything to the effects of one. But one of the animes that has it the WORST in crack-pairings, is Naruto, and the target character is Sakura. Sorry to say it, but SakuOro? Ye-eah, don't think so…SakuChiyo? Ye-eah, she's dead. SakuZABU? Crack goes all around, and it just gets worse. It's a sad factor in the world. People are idiots, and the InuXSan would of happened anyways…but what made it REALLY bad was that there were AMVs because of that one filler scene. That episode was definitely, the WORST filler. The cutest though was episode 89-90, where Kagome gets sick, Inuyasha takes care of her, and Souta falls in love with the girl names Hitomi. That was cute, and I loved that.

And I'll tell you when I have that fanfic up. My name is my fanfic profile, so you can just click there when I have it out.

Damn it's sad to see the series finally end. Of course most of us would've foreseen a different tale for Rin & Sesshomaru (13-14 years ahead).

I guess the theme of the ending was to make it finally feel like a happily ever after but giving fans a sense of a never ending journey for them.

Yamahato: Yes, those were cute :D I liked the MiroxSan fillers too, though there wasn't many… I hope the anime continues D: (and they fix tweak the ending xD) And as for Naruto pairing that went over my head (*doesn't watch it*) xD but I get what you're sayin. The most crack Inu pairing was like SessSang e.e. Actually some good AMVs out there ARE SanxInu and I'm all like 'D:<! *makes better MirokuxSango AMV..cause my hobby is amvs o-o;*' Yeah, so this ending better shut those people up xD (though Miroku/Sango weren't loving towards each other, where's the bashful Sango D: and pervy Miroku? I thought he'd be all like the dad that huggles his kids a lot xD but it seems like he ignores them)

Okay, I'll definitly look for it when it comes up :D (possibly comment if I can work that place xD)

That was so sweet, Inuyasha meeting Kagome after three years, him siking the twins on Shippo-kun, and Sesshoumaru not tearing Kagome to shreds afther being called brother, even though it was brother-in-law.

Kohaku's new weapon looked really cool, but heavy, which makes sense because after all of this time he would really need a heavy weapon.

The deamon slaying with Inuyasha offscreen was awesome, but he looked really sad.

Thank you Starks-sama and Patches-san for the combined work that I wish I could have seen two years ago, Starks these scans were beautiful.

Domo arigato, Takahashi-san, we can't wait for your next series, even if it is just as long as InuYasha. Your artwork is cool.

It's over. This is really depressing.

I have mixed feelings about the end.

1) Yes, I am an InuKag nut, so I was a bit dissappointed when there was no kiss(but ya know, if they animate the chapters they might throw one in just for the sake of taking up a minute of the episode-not counting on it)…but I am ecstatic that they are now married and living together! Although my sister and I have a joke that the marriage probably wasn't consummated…(Inu's naivety being the cause…yeah…). The joke was hilarious! "Screw love!"

2) Miroku and Sango definitely had the best ending in my opinion. I found it completely ironic that their first child was a set of twins-girls! Hah! Poor Miroku…he's outnumbered! Something tells me these two will be quite popular with the men and Mr. Perverted Monk will have to become defensive and beat them off with a stick. I was happy for these two, they really deserved a happy ending.

3) This chapter was humorous, which I greatly appreciated. My favorite lines being: "You're a toy.", "Not the ears, kids!", "Go slay the kitsune.", and "Onii-saan! *twitch*".

The very end was what hurt me the most. I felt so empty after I read the final sentence. I felt kind of like the sentence was empty. I'm not sure, I was probably just depressed because reality finally had sunken in, but still. I wish she had ended it with somewhat of a group shot…instead of the two of them just looking at the mountains ("so…what do we do now?" "frolic in the fields?" "nah…let's just stare at the mountain and hope it turns into an evil demon with a complicated past that somehow relates to us and has a bad fashion sense with tons of doppelgangers and lairs and transformations and stuff." "Yep." "So…what do you want to do today?" "I do not know, what do you want to do today?" etc. Sorry…for the bs…)

All the same, I thought the ending overall was very well done. Starks, the scans were fantastical! The clarity of the pictures was a gift, and I thank you and Patches whole-heartedly for doing this every week (I also adored the jokes at the end of each chapter….glad that other people have a sense of humor!)

Best wishes to all, and let's see what the future brings as we continue to be led down our own paths.

God bless Rumiko Takahashi-sama.

First time posting in the final chapter of InuYasha, that's…depressing.

Anyway, the ending was a nice conclusion although, I must say it wouldn't hurt to add a couple more scenes of Miroku with his children. (The guy's been asking for them for how long?!) The house certainly will be cramped if Sango keeps up to her promise, just realized Souta is the only one who looks different. Wow…12 years…

I sort of hoped we would have a glance at Shiori and the other people we had seen before but R.T. probably forgot about them. ::sighs::  Also annoyed at how none of Naraku's minions didn't get to live (Kohaku doesn't count, if he dies again in the near future while demon-slaying and gets resurrected, he's following Kikyo's footsteps.) Byakuya, I think, got the worse of it, a half paged death.

I feel kinda sad since Inuyasha was the first anime that I actually took interest in, I heard they're gonna continue the anime in 2010 (apparently it was canceled.) If the rumors are true, I have a feeling it's going to end up like Naruto. The fights are gonna drag on, the upgrades,(shuddershudder) Chapter 518 and the anti-climactic end of Naraku which still upsets me by-the-way.

However on the bright side, everyone's happy, the storm is over and Kagome is now in the feudal era with Inuyasha. Question: Can the well still take Kagome back to her time? I thought in the manga the jewel shards aren't needed for time-traveling. So can she still visit or is she stuck there? "Onii-san!":death glare: –That part was interesting.

Thank you Starks for editing and scanning, Patches for the translating, and Nintendali and the others with the forum for Freelance. The scans were amazing. I wonder what's going to happen to Freelance now that InuYasha is over.

——-InuxSan? When did that happen? The episode where the girls got drunk? Fillers are weird.

I don't think that Kagome and Inuyasha are married at this point in the story, she's just half-teasing/half-forward thinking.  She has only just returned through the well; Inuyasha is still in the process of filling her in on everything that's happened over the last three years.

I love that Sesshoumaru is none too thrilled to have her announcing herself as a relative of his.  I am annoyed that she is surprised by this.  I'm not a Kagome hater, but this is the kind of behavior that makes me sympathise with them.

First let me say, Starks I loved the new scans. The pictures were really clean and clear! (the joke was good too) And thanks for all you and Patches have done. We can't thank you enough!

And like I said before, this ending was satisfying to me. Of course I would have liked to seen more happen, but I believe this was enough to wrap everything up.

We all know Inuyasha and Kagome end up together. Which is good! Yes, it may seem disappointing they didn't kiss, but just think, they are engaged… I mean why else would she call Sesshomaru her brother-in-law?

A lot of you are saying Miroku doesn't seem to pay much attention to his wife and kids…? Well, we only see like 3 pages with them on it, and I don't think thats the case. He got food for his family, and it seemed like he was pretty happy when the kid was born. I mean he isn't that heartless. We know that Sango is the only woman he'll ever truly love. So I agree, they did deserve a happy ending. They are also my favorite couple as well. n_n

It has been a good time. I've enjoyed all the Inuyasha chapters, and I'm glad I decided to read it after the anime ended so abruptly. Can't wait to see RT's next work!

Rumiko kinda dissapointed me…I was hoping to see a little teeny intimacy between Inuyasha and Kagome. Maybe a kiss? Or a declaration of love? I understand that she somehow left her family to get married to Inuyasha but how do we know she really got married? We were never invited to the wedding! lol

I just wanted to see a little bit more emotion. Sango and Miroku kissed (not in this chapter, but another one). Why couldn't Inuyasha and Kagome kiss in the final chapter of their story??

Thank you Sparks. You did great. Rumiko….bah..i still like the story though.

Aa, Inuyasha so ronery 4 u!! Sorry, couldn't resist!See, this is why I wait for Starks and Patches instead of reading the "distinguished competition" (it's not just because I dislike you-know-who).  The finale looked and read absolutely magnificent, you two. Man, what a long (and I mean really long) strange trip it's been.  The Voyager quote was a nice touch, Starks.  Are you a Trekker or a Trekkie? ;DYou know, I like Shoujo as much as the next girl, but I really love me some Shounen manga.  Yeah, a kiss would've been a nice touch, but really, the amount of emotion that RT drew into those lovely pages nearly drove me to drink and then gave me WAFFiness in the span of a few minutes.  Man, the look on Inuyasha's face when he saw Kagome, and vice versa!  I know a lot of people are disappointed with the ending, but I liked it.  It had enough angst to satisfy me, and I'm actually elated to see everyone have a good ending together.  Hell, even the loliRin/Sess fangirls managed to get a good ending (yeah, she's with Kaede, BUT she has the ability to go back with him when she's no longer a loli…I know, I know:  "boo!  hiss!")!  The only thing that depresses me is that I wish we could have seen just one panel of how Kouga's doing and one panel of SessMama again. As a fanfic writer, I must say that the joke page is right — the way things ended is a writer's dream.  You know how things were resolved and what people are up to, but things are still so open-ended that you could write a good sequel (and yes, here they come; you just wait).  Also, even though Kagome said that she would stay in the past with Inuyasha, that doesn't really mean that the well is closed again.  So yay.And yay, Kikyou gets to live out her dream as Kagome, so in the end, her wish was granted.  Don't you just love reincarnation? And to reiterate what I said in the previous thread that's now dead:As for "rushed endings," I've read elsewhere (like 2chan) that
Takahashi may have been forced by her editor to come up with a
conclusion rather quickly due to declining sales  (don't know how true
that is without a sales chart, but it seems to be happening with a few
other manga, too).  I'd rather that be the reason instead of the one we
touched on in here (back before the creation of the forums) last year:
that she'd just run out gas and wanted to see how long she could milk
it.
As for Miroku, he reminds me of my own husband.  Seriously, as a
woman who has given birth, there's not much he can do for her, ladies.
It's remarkable that he's helping her with the laundry and trying to
bring home food.  Considering the era and nation of origin, he wouldn't
be required to do those things.  This means he holds Sango to the
highest regard.  And as for Sango being "reduced to a baby producing
machine," that was a fact of life in those times.   If those two are
living in Kaede's village, her new duties would be to maintain the rice
paddies and whatever else the village pays to the daimyou.   Yeah, this
is just a story, but Takahashi does try to get history right
(sometimes).Heh, and Kagome overheard me trying to explain the ending to her older brother, and when I mentioned that Kagome would stay with Inuyasha in his world now, Kagome piped up with, "I'm in whose world??"  Hehe, 4-year-olds.

Just wanted to say Thank You for all the time and effort that you and others have put into Inu Yasha. It has been a long series and I just want to personally thank you and others who have made possible to read over the years, because without, well we're screwed. So thx, it been a joy to read this with this with others as it all comes to an end.

Starks and Patches, what an ultimate duo you guys have teamed up to be. As we all know and can see, this last chapter came out to be remarkable, and the quality was excellent. (Ahh, my favorite was the clarity of Inuyasha's eyes of amazement as he slowly pulled Kagome out of the well.) And the translations have been flawless, capturing the meaning of each character's motivations perfectly! In the least, you both have done your duties well, and I'm glad this site gave us all a chance to love, rant, fangirl, cry, and do a bunch of other crazy stuff, together! I've only been an Inuyasha fan since about last July. But, boy, what an emotional year it has been! I mean, I've gotten to love these characters as if they were real people. And, it's a terrible feeling to have to let them go, but, as they say, all good things must come to an end.Though the ending was left a bit opened, I feel enough good fanfic and the arrival(possibly?) of new anime should cover the gaps Takahashi left open. Well, it's been a slice, but I suppose we won't be here as often(or every Wednesday) from now on. I'll definitely try to visit as often as I can.   JohnnyBoy61887: I remember you saying it was going to be your birthday the Wednesday the last chapter would come out, so…Happy Birthday!   & Yamahato Yokimoto!!!: Haha! Crack pairings… That was a good rant. You're a pretty cool 12 year old! KagomeKagome: Did you name one of your children 'Kagome'? :O That's…amazing! I deeply admire that. … Endless thank you's go out to Rumiko Takahashi, Starks, Patches, fellow fans, and anyone else who has helped Inuyasha run this far!   With oodles of love, farewell until we meet again.-Gladys Rosario

God have mercy, I wish I could edit here.  XP  No paragraphs!  WTF!

Ah, I forgot to mention two things:

1.)  Got to love the "slay Shippou" panel.  Seriously, I hate that brat, and he deserves what he gets.

2.)  No one's appearance (outside of Jii-chan and one of Kagome's friends (Ayumi?), perhaps) changed that much in three years.  Although Kagome's legs are longer, like her anime counterpart.

I agree with KagomeKagome as a fanfic writer myself I see many possiblities and am very glad one of my stories was on the money – Rin lives with Kaede to learn how to live in the human world. I thought (as a big Sesshomaru fan) that the little bit with Sesshomaru coming to bring Rin presents was rather touching – the big guy still cares "sniff". All in all I think the ending was really good.  I know alot of people are upset about the kiss or lack thereof.  It seems that with a couple that are truly together or at least married the kiss is private (along with other things). May I remind those dissapointed fans out there that we also never see Miroku and Sango kiss and it is very apparent that somewhere off screen they do, among other things.  I think Miroku is a man of his time and at least he helps with the laundry (as my husband does).

There are some things I wish were addressed such as where are the Demons today!!! In a few of my fanfics I put them in the "Demon Realm" which exists in a different time frame so they exist very close but we are not aware of each other. Another idea would be that they are around posing as human and running the giant corporations (Sesshomaru runs Honda).

Another thing I wonder about is the time travel. In Timescape by Robin Cook one of the characters falls in love and decides to stay in the Medieval age, later in our time the other characters find his grave.  I wonder if Kagome's family would find her grave maybe behind the ancient tree.  How weird would that be!! Maybe Kagome is her own Grand+mother, even weirder!!

At first I was alittle upset that Kagome would leave her family to go live in the Feudal age.  If my daughter did that I would be devistated even if she was going to live with a really cute half demon.  I remember, however, that my own parents were immigrants and left their families to come to the US together so I guess that is not so unusual.  And I suppose if my daughter found her true love somewhere out there I would support her decision to be with him.

Some are wondering about Kouga, I guess Rumiko figured that was a done deal.  He went back with his wolves and probably hooked up with Ayame.

Well in conclusion, it has been a wonderful ride I fell in love with Inuyasha when I first saw it on Adult Swim and thought "this has everything I want to watch!!!"  Thank you Starks and Patches for doing such a wonderful job with the scans and the site, I will truly miss it.

My thoughts on the minor characters:

Kohaku – What was the point of keeping him alive?  He didn't do much of
anything in the last 30 or so chapters other than escort Rin around.
Don't get me wrong, I love the character, but his death would have been
just the emotional punch in the gut that this story needed.

That said,
I liked his line of 'that house is too cramped', it's just so obviously
bull.  Maybe he feels like a third wheel, maybe he just still feels
guilty, maybe he's terrified that something will come over him and
cause him to hurt Sango or her children, probably some combination of the three.  Whatever the reason, he
clearly feels that they're better off without him, and he's pulling away.  That's almost dark enough for me.

Sesshoumaru – I know some of you are upset about
this, but the ONLY way that Rin has any chance of an adult relationship
with Sesshomaru, romantic or otherwise, is if he leaves her alone and
lets her grow up and become a woman outside of his supervision.    I
had predicted that he would leave Rin under Sango's care, as she is pretty much in
his debt.  And it's sweet that he drops in from time to time with
presents.

Shippou -   Shippou also doesn't look any older than he did three years
ago, lending credence to the 'slow aging' theory.  Neither does
Sesshoumaru for that matter.  The whole interaction with the twins was
cute, I did notice that Miroku had rescued Shippou from them by the end
of the scene (whereas he let Inuyasha fend for himself)

Kouga – I didn't particularly miss him in the finale, his story was
already wrapped up pretty neatly.  And since there's no reason why  he would
be anywhere near Kaede's village if Kagome wasn't there I'm glad RT
didn't waste any space showing him running around in the mountains. But
again, here's another character who could have easily been killed off
to darken the series a bit without altering the storyline.

I'm sad, I'm happy, I've got all the kinds of feelings in my heart now. This is one of the best/worst days, and I just want to read Inuyasha from the start, crying and laughing again :)

Sorry for my poor english. I'm a brazilian girl, who loves inuyasha more than anything. I will miss him :p
And Sesshy, of course :)

Yeah, Ayame was only filler, so Kouga's kind of unattached unless some other cute girl comes along, sadly.

Actually, my husband is the best considering he didn't even balk when I said I wanted that as her first name.  Aaannnddd, I was majoring in Japanese at the time, so I wanted a name no one else would have (hopefully).  At least she likes her name (and her counterpart).  :)

It finished even, finished…

It was a good end, somewhat predictable, but the form as it unfolded left me happy. Nobody here might conform in seeing Inuyasha without Kagome.
Regarding the kiss, I think of the next form: The kiss does not show to be a symbol of love in the oriental culture. The kiss with this simbol appeared with the American cinema, and Hollywood influenced all the forms of production of the mass culture,
like novels, series etc, vulgarizing it in such a form, which made the act of kissing a cliché. Then, it is a true daring to finish a series without which the two were kissing each other. The spread out hand of Inuyasha to hold Kagome and his embrace they made the kiss totally unnecessary.

The end of Inuyasha began that there is some time, when Kikyou died and Kouga went away. In this last chapter they were only the principal characters, in an ending that allows to end what their life does not finish there, we hardly will stop accompanying them.

I am a great fan of Rumiko Takahashi. When I discovered her, I fell in love with his work. I can say that Inuyasha is his best work (I consider Ranma 1/2 " hors concours ") and his artwork is wonderful. Must his next work begin in the next year, someone knows more about this?

I read Inuyasha in this site from December of the last year. I am grateful the Starks, Patches and all who provided us these good moments. Domo arigato gozai mashita, Takahashi-sensei.Be happy!

Starks, do you plan to do scanlations from the Rumiko Takahashi's next work?

First, thanks to Starks, Patches, Kuro, et al.  After the anime ended, I had to find out how it ended.  In the process, I was glad to find that I could read all of the manga from chapter #1.

I thought that the ending was pretty good, even though it seemed forced.  This ending probably could have happened long ago.

I was more disappointed in the final battle with the shikon-no-tama.  It appeared that RT was ready to revive Naraka and continue the battle for another volume.  It would have be cool to have Kagome and Modoriko join forces to battle the jewel (and possibly a revived Naraku).  RT could have even found a way to bring Kikyo into the mix (didn't Kikyo merge with Midoriko's soul somewhere along the way?).  It would have been epic to have the 3 Mikos – Midoriko (jewel's beginning), Kikyo (jewel's middle) and Kagome (jewel's end) – battle together to destroy the jewel (and possibly the revived Naraku).  Then you could even throw in another (final?) farewell between IY and Kikyo before the end.

I’ve
thinking about something: since Kagome will stay with Inuyasha, won’t
there be a time loop, as she isn’t originally from the Sengoku era? And
assuming they will have children, won’t it mean that Kagome is her own
ancestor/descendant?

Somehow i always thought that the well didn't do pure time travel but more like sending her into a parallel universe.  This would explain why there are no demons in the present, and why the well in the sengoku period leads to the future, while it leads into the past in the present period. But then again the well seems to have a mind of its own, so it might switch the direction at a certain point in time, but the problem of the mising demons in the present still remains. Just my thoughts.

First off, I want to thank Starks, Patches and everyone else that put all this together for our enjoyment every week.  Starks, these scans came out even more crisper and cleaner than ever before.  I know you must have spent hours making sure they looked just right for all your die-hard scanlation fans out here.  And thanks to everyone else who comments on the site.  They are just too freaking hilarous and sometimes very informative.  Yeah, now I'm sounding like a moderator on here, lol!

Ok, I know that this has been commented on and everything, but I just gotta throw my two cents in.  The issue with the "kiss" scenario that never happened.  What I have to say about that is… who cares?  Westerners have this preconcieved notion in their heads, (I blame the media), where it's not considered love until one character sucks face with another character.  Me, I got all gushy inside when I saw page 26, where InuYasha is clutching Kagome's hand to his chest as he pulls her the rest of the way out of the well, and they just stare at each like nothing else matters or exists for that moment.  Whoo boy, I think I stared at that particular page and just happy sighed for what seemed like an eternity.  That look spoke more volumes than anything physical they could have done.

All in all, I think the fairytale ended as it should, happily ever after.. with a new beginning for all the characters as well.  And Takahashi-san left it open to her readers very fertile imaginations (as expressed so enthusiastically here!).

Now, I think I'll go ahead and get off my soapbox and pick up InuYasha:  A Feudal Fairytale, since I never read it from the beginning.

Again, Domo Arigatou Starks and everyone else for this site and scans.  I may not have been there in the beginning, but I'm with ya to the end… and maybe a new beginning??  Who knows, but one thing is for sure, InuYasha is and always will be one of my fave manga/anime characters.

Ciao everyone, see ya'll soon!

Kagome pretty much means "basket weaver".  As the site points out, there's a really old Japanese kids' dancing/singing game called Kagome Kagome. :)

On the subject of demons in our time, don't forget that one of the first volumes showed us a demon (and ghost) in the present.  It's either a case where they're well-hidden or just ignored by non-believers.

I can put up some good arguments when I feel like it. I can write good fanfics when I'm in the mood(and the Inuyasha one I talked about is coming along GREAT!) -sigh- I've noticed this though. For some reason, some people who read manga just happen to be intelligent. -shrugs- I dunno. Maybe because we have to set up good debates in the Fandom Realm.

Can Kagome pass back through to present day or is she stuck in the fuedal era?

i really hope not, its sad imagining her mother, brother, and grandfather would never see her again. however i think they would understand, but still, they ALL had really strong connections with kagome, and now they can never see her again. its not even like if your daughter were to get married and move away and you get to visit her on holidays or recieve phone calls. I agree with kagome's choice to return to Inuyasha, but its still prettty sad for her family.

Anyone ever see Fire Tripper by Rumico? The endings are very similar, especially the "leaving your parents forever aspect" :)

Just a question, how do we know nothing intimate happened between InuYasha and Kikyo? We don't. How long had they been together before the "incident"? I don't know. That question just popped into my head.
