Inuyasha Final Act premiere date plus opening and ending performers (UPDATED)

(Click on image for larger size.)

After a bit of a dry spell with information, we finally have something new to talk about.

Inuyasha Final Act will premiere on October 4th on Nihon TV at 2:20AM JST and on October 6th on Yomiuri TV at 1:44AM JST. The opening will be performed by Do As Infinity (they did the 2nd and 5th endings for the first anime and ending for the 4th movie) and the ending will be performed by AAA.

I had honestly thought that Do As Infinity was done after they broke up a few years ago. Even though I knew they came back last year, having them do another song for Inuyasha is a pleasant and quite appropriate surprise.

Edit: In other news and in case you haven't heard over the past few weeks, Anime-Kraze has confirmed that they will be fansubbing the series.

Wow, I'm delightedly surprised it's coming so soon. I wonder what the interval will be between new episodes… Two weeks? I hope it's one though.

Why would it be two weeks?

The 13-week cour system in Japan requires that you do a new episode for each of the 13 weeks. If you waste slots on recap episodes and the like, you don't get additional ones. If you have a 2-cour show like Inuyasha Final Act, the situation doesn't change.

Take Bakemonogatari, a currently airing anime, for example. It is a 15 episode show with only 13 slots allocated. From the very beginning it was understood by the broadcaster and the production company, SHAFT, that the story couldn't be told in less and that the remaining episodes would be webcast (which is a shame considering how amazing the HD animation is). In addition to this, SHAFT wasted an episode on a recap.

Wait, the episodes are going to be two hours long? Or no…?

Cour.

The Japanese have sometimes subdivided television series and dramas into kūru (クール?), from the French term "cours" for "course", which is a 3-month period usually of 13 episodes. Each kūru generally has its own opening and ending image sequence and song, recordings of which are often sold. The number of episodes permitted per season ranges from 3 to 65.

Um, question. Anyone know how long it takes to dub an anime? Does anyone know if this anime is going to be dubbed at all? I don't mind the Jap version, but I'm partial to the English version :)

i was wondering  about the english dub myself.  With Viz Media already holding the rights to the series i would assume an english dub would be done with Ocean Studios and the broadcast would be made on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim broadcast. I would hope the original crew did the voices because lets face it, NEW voices are sometimes hard to get used to when youve had 160+ episodes of the same voice. We shall see how it works i guess. I know as soon as Starks knows something we will know something.

AD, no.

Please read my comments.

I said 2-cour. Not 2-hour.

2-cour = 26 half-hour episodes

so,  i assume there's going to be 2 seasons with 13 episodes each? or just 1 season with 26 episodes?
does that mean that all the remaining events from the manga will be told in 26 episodes? or are they gonna have more seasons after that

As far as I can speculate at this time, 26 episodes shown consecutively over 26 weeks.

And yes, unless Sunrise has bought or buys more slots, that will be all we get.

Finally some fresh and good News.
I was wondering who would be doing the new openings and endings for the show.
I haven't heard of AAA, but me and my sister are "Do As Infinity" fans.
We are very pleased that they are doing the opening for the new InuYasha, and he's right it is very appropriate for them to be doing it.
I am looking forward to that first full week in October.
See ya then.
