Episode 4 – Dragon-scaled Tessaiga

This episode covered a bunch of chapters: 386-391, 397, 398, 432-436

Byakuya, Kai, Toushuu, Ryuujin, etc… Lot of shit.

I'm not in the mood to do a full blog post right now, but maybe later.

Edit: Next week is Kinka, Ginka, Yourei Taisei, and possibly the youketsu, senki, and Flame Tessaiga. Along with Moryoumaru's pending death in episode 6, this going to be pointless, if not a disaster. I have no idea how Sunrise intends to pull this off when everything is pretty much out of order.

Edit 2: Here's a Japanese broadcast schedule for episodes 5 through 9. Pay close attention to the fact that Daylight Savings Time ends in November this year in the US. I also added the Japanese time on the right to give you an idea of just how much Inuyasha Final Act is getting moved around and why the NTV graveyard slot sucks.

Episode 5 – 10/31 at 2:20 PM EDT (GMT-4) | 11/1 at 3:20 AM JST (GMT+9)

Episode 6 – 11/7 at 1:10 PM EST (GMT-5) | 11/8 at 3:10 AM JST (GMT+9)

Episode 7 – 11/14 at 12:30 PM EST (GMT-5) | 11/15 at 2:30 AM JST (GMT+9)

Episode 8 – 11/21 at 1:00 PM EST (GMT-5) | 11/22 at 3:00 AM JST (GMT+9)

Episode 9 – 11/28 at 2:20 PM EST (GMT-5) | 11/29 at 4:20 AM JST (GMT+9)

Besides the wolf-demon kid part (which I haven't got up to reading about yet, if it's in the manga), I thought the episode was pretty good. It actually stayed on topic…for most of the time.

I have never been so appalled and disgusted at an episode of Inuyasha so horribly horribly gone wrong. This is by far worse than episode 1. This completely discredits the meioju storyline and the "original" capture of Inuyasha Adamant Spears.

The spears were ""MANGAWISE"" used to intinidate Inuyasha, Sesshomaru, and Kikyo, and a lot of action and dialogue ensued over this, but in this "ANIME ADAPTATION" Koga and Inuyasha Make it look quick and easy to defeat.

I have seen the preview for next weeks episode.

The Training by Totosai's old friend goes extremly fast. Had this pace been as its original form it would be safe to assume and hype for more insight at the Tessaiga's Dragon Scale Transformation. If noone likes what im saying about this PART READ Ch 425 at Onemanga.com for a BETTER INSIGHT.

In episode 4 Inuyasha defeating Toshuu and the Ruyjin Demon came with the backlash wave and oddly enough im ok with this version.

It is just like Inuyasha's Final Battle with Bakotsu at Mt Hakurei except there is very little difference in the struggle to defeat him in that story.

In the manga/anime with The Schichinitai Arc is that Inuyasha used the backlash wave, and TUNED the battle without CUTS. In fact at Mount Hakurei EVEN MORE scenes were added in the anime than what we recieved in the original manga.

In this Ryujinn story more than a volume and a half of material was cut down into 10 mins worth of execution, and the Kai arch's action was ACTUALLY CUT by 2 of the original 4 chapter arc. Also MADE INTO the second half of the show for 10 minutes.

Even some more of the humorous moments between protagonists were cut down, and uggglllll. Everything was clearly rushed, Maybe I should start rushing my reviews huh??

Sunrise Animation stated that the action and the measure of it was going to be executed even as promised, while the projected staff had to explain cutting down the episodes.

In the next half of the preview, Sesshomaru battles Moryomaru with the Meidou Zangetsuha technique??

In the manga, no such event occurred because Moryomaru confronted Naraku and was killed. Sesshomaru sensed Moryomaru's death while battling Byaykuya at the same time.

Byaykuya's appearance had been to instigate a confrontation with the Dokumizuchi (a Snake demom from a local swamp in Chapter 396), a demom who Inuyashas hands had been heating up against, because of the regurgiating demonic aura of the Dragon Tessaiga, whem battling.

Koga's dialogue in Todays episode, he had stated Moryomaru had changed "again". Koga only met him once, and saw his original appearnce. I think the Koga VS Moryomaru battles started going downhill because of the scene of the FIRST ANIME in episode 165, in which Koga and Inuyasha had compared swords while taking ON HAKUDOSHI and his attempt of HYBREEDING demons and stealing Koga's shards.

In the anime of episode 165 Inuyasha never encountered Koga, but fought Hakudoshi in identically
the same battle. In truth the cut of that one little scene may be NOT "The" but rather "A" reason the Koga battles and encounters have been going downhill.

It would certainly be fanboyish to give this episode a 2 out of 10, However I dont even want to give a Numerical Rating of this show.

My final score here is that if this was a school project, the character designs would be looked at with interest. Ultimately, the artwork is what is NOT able to FULLY or redeem this show.

As a teacher who would be expecting more of his/her standards from the people who take part in a project.

THIS GET A D-

I say this because Im not giving this an F, as we have yet to see more in the remaining 22 episodes.

The chances for Sunrises Redemtion are simply Slipping

I can believe I have to say this, but if this anime CUTS through the struggles of the original chapters, and make all of it look easy in one episode,

I WILL NO LONGER BE A FAN OF THIS FRANCHISE.

Well the anime version, at least.

You guys are being so harsh! C'mon, lighten a bit. I've been waiting for this for five years! Five years! Yes, I'm upset that they're speeding too much, but I'm glad the show is on! Who knows, maybe they'll release a special DVD that's longer than the episodes were watching now! Just stop saying those things!

Some people are saying we're speeding by the "intermediate" parts of the manga, allowing the last 70 chapters to be done in 20 episodes (a pace we're much more familiar with). Let's give it at least until 13/26 episodes

I’ve never posted here before. But I come to the sight once and a while and read the posts and information. Find it interesting. Also I’m a fan of Inuyasha.

I figured I’d post something now. Guess I’m bored and in the mood to type.

I am surprised no one, that I know of, has said anything about this (Spoilers, if you haven‘t read the manga all the way through):

In the first few photos previewing Inuyasha: The Final Act, Inuyasha and Kagome are shown. They are both at the Bone Eater's Well. It looks like the scene in chapter 558 of the manga where Kagome crosses back through the well to be with Inuyasha after three years of not being able to cross through the well. The only difference is what Kagome is wearing. In the preview images she is shown wearing her regular middle school uniform. In the manga she crosses back through the well after the three years shortly after she graduates high school. I really hope The Final Act hasn’t changed that. In the opening theme Kagome is shown wearing the high school uniform. But still, those images previewing The Final Act show the scene that looks just like the scene from chapter 558. In the manga when Kagome crossed back through the well after the three years she wasn’t even wearing her high school uniform. She was just wearing regular clothes. So I don’t know. Hope the ending isn’t changed.

And as far as the pacing of The Final Act. Don’t like it. I hate that so much is cut out, done out of order, and changed around. I was all for an anime so I could see the rest of the series animated. But this just wrecks it. I always liked the manga better though.

This episode was a little disappointing because in comparison to the last episode I thought that things might start to get a little better. Because I haven't read the manga in a while, I was definitely picking my brain throughout the entire episode and found myself up the creek. For this reason I will be going back to re-read these chapters.
However, I plan to continue to watch. I really wish they had not agreed to do just 26 episodes. T_T (sniffs).

After following the weekly new episodes for the last month now…Wow, 4 weeks have already gone and went…
Nonetheless, although I know the Manga certainly isn't being done any justice by this latest speed-through anime. I do like each episode. However, the nagging feeling that it's just half as good as it should be is in the back of my mind.
I would of preferred a 52 episode anime over this 26 episode decision. Though, I'm going to take what we're given and enjoy it for what it's worth.
The manga is far superior anyways.

Long time no post.
They can't seem to stop running this show at ludicrous speed. It's like they only have 13 episodes to get everything in, instead of 26.
My biggest issue is that they're jumbling things around. The Kai story was supposed to be after gutless trainer man. Why did they feel the need to have it before?
Also, what are Kinka and Ginka doing there? That story was one of Takahashi's biggest plot holes. Oy.

In an effort to stay positive on the anime, hopefully they are moving fast through these so-called "minor" chapters in order to later spend a larger amount of time on the "Final Act" of the show at the end. After all, from the entrance of the final battle with Naraku till the return of Kagome (and her decision to stay), it took quite a long time to read through.

A special thanks to Rumiko for that ^_^

I agree with the half of you that are upset over the fast paced anime because as a big fan of the manga (although I first was aware of InuYasha because of the anime on Adultswim) I too was hoping they would honor the manga's end by going into closer detail with the new anime. But we all know that even from the very beginning of the anime it didn't completely follow the manga, so there is a bit of a give there.

I also agree with the other half of you that say there really is no reason to complain since we've waited so long for the continuation to come back. So I suppose over all I'm just happy to be watching my favorite anime of all time again. I want this to be something my children can watch someday when they see my collection of InuYasha anime/manga and enjoy it just as much as I have.

Guys.
I get most you are very upset.  I kind of am, but not really.

I mean, would you have rather had no animation at all?  I understand it sucks but I'm the type of person who will take anything they can get.  It's rare for an series to get animation after being out of commission for so long!  The animation is beautiful and even though it quite squished and jumbled it isn't SO bad.
Anyhow, in regards to the episode… not bad. :)

I agree with LEAH. Finally my favourite anime is having a continuation and -i hope- a proper animated conclusion. I' ve read the manga chapters and of course i don't want a true violation to the original story, but i also think that something like that hasn't done yet. I don't care if Kagura died first but i would if Sesshoumaru's and Kagura's scene was destroyed! I believe that if there is an anime with start-middle-end, there will be a possibility that many of my friends (and other people around the world of course) will watch it and feel the magnificence of this epic good vs evil story!!!!!

I found this episode as the others awesome. If I hadn't read the manga I could say it was perfect. I didn't think that it was fast, actualy the episode seemed long. It was fast (in minutes) but the way as the action was chained and the anime by itself made the episode "long". I'm enjoying a lot. But you are always complaining. Jesus, you are never happy :(

InuKagFanNo Gravatar

October 27, 2009 @ 5:39 pm

I felt the episode wasn't as good as the others, but for some reason, I can't exactly pinpoint what's wrong with it. I didn't like it that they put the Kai and Shinta arc in there, nor did I really like how Byakuya appeared out of the blue. I also thought it was strange seeing an ogre tearing down huts and suddenly, there's Inuyasha and if I remember right, he never got any clues that led him to Dakki. I also have mixed feelings about the transformation of Toshu, I'm used to the old episodes where they animate the full transformation. The episode wasn't really bad, just weird in a sense. The animation drawing was beginning to lack, much to my disappointment, but maybe that's just me being picky. Oh well, I'll still keep watching.

This, the random popping up here and there is annoying. And actually after reading the part in the manga it really is obvious how they butchered the anime equivalent of the events.
However, aside from the manga, I'm going to hold off my judgments on the anime final act until it's all said and done. It won't be too bad of an anime, but it seriously falls short of where it should of been.

I agree with Leah.
Does anyone else recall IY's hands being burned after one of the first times he used Dragon-Scaled Tessaiga in the manga? I think it would've been in this episode had the animators not been crunching for time. But I remember that one bit really made a dramatic effect on me, and I realized how out-of-control the technique was in IY's hands, considering he wasn't prepared to handle that much power in the sword at that time… I don't know; it was a tiny scene, but I was looking forward to it. :/

elotequeenNo Gravatar

October 27, 2009 @ 10:49 pm

Oh yeah, and I just saw the AM spot IY is in. That's insane. How can the network do that if it's a fairly new (continuation of ) the anime? I don't know the technicalities of time slot promotion and stuff, but that confuses me…

I see exactly where you are coming from. However, I personally would rather it to end on a great note in the manga than a poor continuation that leaves a bad taste in my mouth. For example, take Kenshin – I would have been much happier if the anime stopped at the end of the Kyoto arc rather than add a poorly done season or an incredibly poorly done finale. Yes, they totally screwed up the story and personalities so it is very different from the progression of Inuyasha so far, but the idea is it became an albatross around the neck and shoudl have ended on a high note.
