What will be freelance manga's next project?
« on: June 13, 2008, 10:12:31 PM »
Well since inuyasha is almost gone, I was wondering what will be their next series?  Are you guys going to stop scanlations, or are you going to pick up a new series?

I intend to be done with scanlating after Inuyasha. I may redo the first half of volume 46 over the summer but that's about it.

However, I will reconsider if and only if the following conditions are met:

1. I have a translator or free-to-use scripts at my disposal.

2. RAW scans must be readily available on torrent indexers such as Tokyo Tosho or on Japanese P2P networks such as Winny, Share, or Perfect Dark.

3. The series in question does not have scanlations or no longer has an active group scanlating.

4. My cleaning skills must improve.

5. The series must interest me and/or the translator.

5. If the series is weekly and is new (such as Rumiko's next project), it can't take up almost half of a day, like Inuyasha, to do.

I invite you all join a small Bleach RP site I help run, it's called ShinigamiFAQs. Check it out. (P.S. Naruto RP in the works!)

Considering that this is an amazing community and that I am almost certainly going to renew the freelance-manga.com domain for at least another year, I'm not going anywhere (or at least that is my intention).

There's huge potential for a lot of talk over the next few months with regard to analysis of the Inuyasha series as a whole, searching for info on Rumiko's next project, the speculated return of the anime, future IY products (expect another manga profiles or art book from Rumiko), and Viz's long-term plans for the official localization (I may start another "please don't flip" campaign).

Of course, we also have the other boards to fall back on if things get stale. <_<

(expect another manga profiles or art book from Rumiko)

Seriously? Just the other day I recalled how the possibility of a new profile book was speculated amongst fans, but I did not think it was too likely now that the series was over.

Maybe this is normal, and I'm just unexperienced. Regardless, if she does indeed publish an updated art or profile book, that will make me feel far better about the ending.  :)

I'm hoping for at least a few RT interviews to pop up with some afterthoughts on InuYasha and comments on any upcoming work.  I think RT did some after Ranma was completed.

btw: I'm scanlating Honey and Clover. Give it a try. I may have more in store if I ever bother looking for a translator(s).
