Inuyasha Kanketsu-hen episode 23
« on: March 08, 2010, 09:49:12 PM »
yes. that's about as close to a perfect episode of inuyasha as i've seen; no needless deviations from the story, good pacing, every scene playing out just like i imagined them in the manga. i don't agree with starks aboutthe episode lacking any emotional punch; it wasn't dripping with emotion like kikyo's exit or kohaku's resurrection, but it for sure wasn't the hell arc over again. this episode was more about intensity, there really isn't time for the impact of what's going on to sink in, evidenced by sango's disbelief that she tried to kill rin just a moment before. next episode is the big one... say goodbye to naraku and byakuya.

This episode was pretty good, although I wouldn't call it perfect. My opinion is somewhat of a middle ground between Wadetruckerton and Starks - there were good amounts of emotion (although indeed not overflowing emotion) here, but I did feel that Sango's choice about attacking Naraku lacked a little extra punch. I remember someone criticizing the animation director Sakuma for displaying the same still cell for who-knows-how-long, and I now understand the problems involved: Sango's voice actress alone wasn't able to convey the needed intensity, and the (lack of) visuals during her internal monologue didn't help one bit. Too bad, because the following part with Byakuya and Sesshoumaru was very well done I think, and if that would have been a follow-up to a more emotionally charged scene, then it would have been simply perfect. :)

I loved all the drama this week, I was literally on the edge of my seat the whole episode. Honestly, if I didn't know was next I would be nervous the rest of the week
